What's new

What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

Started installing the ReadyLift 2" SST kit on the truck. Wife asked me to start today instead of Saturday due to the weather being a little warmer Saturday so we could take the kids to the beach (Emerald Coast is the best beaches in the US. I've been up and down both oceans in the US, so I think I'm qualified to say that, lol.). Only got 1 front assembly done due to a late start that included getting all the mud off my truck first. 1 wash wasn't enough, but it was sufficient for getting this install done. Hoping to finish up everything tomorrow. Wife was in the garage repainting the kitchen table and chairs, and approves of the "lift".

Biggest complication of this install was the loaner strut spring compressor from Advance. It can't hack it with these large springs. Both my electric tools and my neighbors air tools struggled to compress the springs. I ended up driving over 30 minutes to the base hobby shop to use their spring compressor (which worked perfectly). Also, the upper ball joint nut supplied by ReadyLift was struggling to thread onto the stud. I ended up measuring the threads and confirmed the OE nuts would work, so I used them instead. None of the threads appeared to be damaged, which made things slightly more frustrating. Other than that, I'm just fumbling my way through this project. I knew it would take me a while, so glad I scheduled a couple days for this. If I don't get the rear done this week I'll get it done next week.

Imo, the wheel spacers are needed. With the 1/2" wheel spacers there is slightly more than 1/2" between the tire and the upper ball joint.
From what I understand, due to the massive upper control arms in the RL kits, wheel spacers are a must, at least when using your stock wheels.

I will see next week when my SST goes on. When I spoke to them they said I did not need spacers with 285/75 on the stock 18’s. I had ordered 1/4” spacers when I was going to do the Bilsteins, so I have those in case.

Which I find interesting because when I contacted them they said to use 3/8" to 1/2" spacers. If you'd like a pic of spacing I'll happily send one Monday after I get the alignment done. I am running 285/75r18 Duratracs.

Finished the ReadyLift 2" SST install today. Alignment Monday, followed by a wash. Wife may have convinced me to buy fender flares next instead of the item I had next on my list. Who am I to complain or even say no? The fender flares were already on the list, just not next. They are now.

Started changing out my red front hooks for black and realized even if you can get the drivers side bolts out without cutting, the hooks won’t come out without pulling the bumper and bracket that is in the way. So looks like they will be staying red unless I just paint them. Installed the auto start-stop defeat module.

im curious how yours is different. I have a '22 6.2 TB and i removed mine with an 18mm flex head ratcheting wrench and had them powdercoated.

Not sure. Right at the front of the frame rail there is a bracket that looks to be part of bumper that I can’t get the hook past after got the bolts out. I’ll see if I can get my camera in there.

Keeps hitting there. I tried twisting, turning, you name it but couldn’t squeeze past that
Hard to tell but i dont remember dealing with that bracket. I removed the rubber shroud that surrounds the tow hooks on the bumper, removed both bolts and pulled the hooks out the front of the bumper.

Different engines? I would imagine the turbo 4 and the diesel both have intercoolers and have brackets to mount them somewhere up there.
