Been looking at ways to lock the flapper valve in front of the muffler open to get a little more roar out of the tailpipes. Finally went to Home Depot, spent $9 on two 3/4” x 1-3/4” clamps and a metal 1-1/2” corner brace. Took under 5 mins to clamp down and lock in the corner brace to one of the gaps on the knob. Now the flapper valve set to open.
I will eventually get a new exhaust, but this is a perfect quick fix until then

Did your exhaust noise change??
not too much, i can actually hear it idling instead of being dead silent. i also covered the back 3 resonators on each side of the tailpipe with some high temp aluminum tape, so theres a little more noise back there.

Which way to "open"? With my truck running I rotated CounterClockwise (toweard rear) and got the most flow. Also looked at a youtube where a guy had cut out a muffler and it looks like CCW was the way to go. He has muffler upside down in this video.

Another one supporting CCW -

However....This one is the contradiction......Looks like it rotates CW with actual flow -

I did what the LMFSCREW video did. i turned it clockwise towards the front of the truck which tightened the spring.

Question about the grill type resonators.
My 2021 TB 6.2L does not have the grill-type resonators...has glass -pack type resonators near the end of the pipes.
Has anyone had those removed. Better sound afterwards (along with the flapper fix)????

I did something similar to this, keeping the flapper open & using some HVAC metal tape covered my rear resonators. Much better sound. This will hold me over till muffler needs replacing.

6.2's don't have the mesh. I cut off the muffler and flapper and kept the resonators. It sounds good to me. I used a Magnaflow muffler delete pipe.

I'm thinking, and I am just thinking. Does cutting void warranty? I do realize that yawl have TB's that are a few years older than mine. And maybe have traveled outside your warranty's. But I have both my original and an extended warranty on this new truck. Not sure if I am willing to gamble with money on my warranty that I have built into my payments. Just to lose that peace of mind. Or correct me if I am wrong.

I cut mine off the 3rd day I owned it after buying it new. It's the same as a cat back exhaust. It would only void any warranty on the exhaust after the catalytic convertor.
