Bought best tire in perfect size for my needs

BFG KM3. Yup. I read where the new KO3's have quite stronger sidewalls, IIRC, 27% stronger. I would guess that the KM3's are at least, and probly more. Mine's gonna need new tires soon, and with the highway driving I do, it looks like the KO3's are what I'll settle on.

    Vehicle recovery gear and tips

I really like the combined utility of my Trail Boss. Fast and efficient (~20mpg), capable and reliable, powerful off road. By lunchtime today, Superman had ... ... turned back into clark kent. .

I try not to judge. ... it's too easy to let others! Blaise said something last night about "college students" and the globally ubiquitous inability to ... repair weak brain chemistry. Not exactly in those words, IIRC. And Rory Irish of Trail Mater fame said he has nothing against...

Ha Ha! He's stuck AGAIN up there! When we got him unstuck he explained that INSTEAD OF following us out, he was going on up a little further to camp the night as he had intended. We told him good night and we'll see you in the morning. Blaise just sent a Facebook screenshot ... he's still up...

    Vehicle recovery gear and tips

An Admin for the Offroad Recovery Portal put out a call at 10:20 PM, forwarding a request from a guy stuck in snow up on Switzerland trail. He was on trails in the South part, very near the mountain community of Sugarloaf Mountain. That's in the Foothills above Boulder. Hmmm ... man it's kinda...

    Opinions/Knowledge Sought

In the world of homebuilt aircraft, we use DIY methods for corrosion protection of aluminum. This product is easier to DIY than any anodizing. And it works for the demanding use on airplanes...

Except for the fact that it is being blown completely out of proportion. How many at this site have had lifter failures? How many of the more than Five Million of these trucks sold have suffered it? Is it true that every single 5.3 and 6.2 will die before 100,000 miles? If owners are that...

    Installing ZR2 Front Lockers?

GM/Chevy gave Casey LaDelle a 2500 ZR2 to test drive for a few days. I thought these were delivered with a Front Locker, but in the recent video that he posted he didn't say that it had one. He also did not do a very good job of driving it to make the Big ZR2 look good. I guess he wasn't being...

    2021 Trail Boss Tire Advice

No I haven't yet replaced the Territory tires, currently at about 36,000 miles. Very Noisy at speed, but lots of tread left. Really leaning toward the new BFG KO3's that are out and replace the KO2's. Supposed to have even stronger sidewalls ... IIRC, "27 % stronger" sidewalls. That's what I'm...

    Installing ZR2 Front Lockers?

The diff cover is the issue? It's gotta be more than that. Cuz it wouldn't be difficult to have a new cover made, or an aftermarket cover, or a modded aftermarket cover. A lot of rock crawl folks use an aftermarket cover as standard procedure. I've considered what it would take to get a front...

    98 mph Governor!!!!!

Crazy time to live ... We can probably discuss driving so fast all day. But mention anything about m a g a ... and the FIB might pay you a visit. "Cobalt SS" ?? So that is not the same as a Trans Am Worldwide 70 SS? Which, IIRC, only comes with either 550HP, 900HP or 1,500HP ... And if...

    Lifter Fail While Camping

Hey, thanks for the reply. They needed to modify the front receiver? I needed to do some fab work on mine. This seems to confirm that there is STILL NO front receiver unit that will simply bolt right up to our Trail Boss trucks. There are differences in the geometry of the front underside...

    Vehicle recovery gear and tips

I finally got around to finding a calculation for the Force a truck might apply when using a Kinetic Rope. Kinetic Energy is equal to (Mass divided by Two) times (Velocity Squared). So, (m/2)*(v^2). I'm using pounds, foot-pounds and Feet per Second. The recommended speed to pull away with a...

    Active Fuel Management

Yup. That is good advice. I changed mine just two days ago. After 5,000 miles mostly highway it really needed it. I'm not going to let it go that long anymore. The Oil Life indicator said 35% left, and the oil is the Mobile 1 Extended Life, supposedly good for 20,000 miles. No way. I'm going...
