Morning all I removed my factory hood scoop from my 2022 trailboss in prep for carbon fiber wrap . It’s a nightmare getting this thing off the 8 nuts come off really easy then it’s the 14 pinch clips that are really the problem you can get to the two center one and the 6 rear ones fairly easy it’s the fronts that are impossible I had to drill tiny puppet holes into the dimples in the bottom of hood then use a step bit to make it large enough to put a small flat head screwdriver to pop them up the two center corner clips you can access through bottom Gm gave you no points and you can’t drill them so once you get all them out reach under and pop with scre driver and will come off. There is a piece of foam around bottom but it’s only a 1/4 inch wide and looks like a blind person put it on cause it doesn’t sit on the edge where the scoop touches the paint and yes I’ve had chipping around all four corners. I bought 12 inch wide foam and plan on doing what Gm should have done at the factory the first time for a 65,000 truck. It took me about 3 hours to get this piece of plastic off my hood. I love the foam passes sticker truck made in Mexico lol anyway anyone doing this is welcome to ask ?s im no pro just got it done.

you just gave me all the hope i needed to know...I can now do rock lights in the scoop gills :ROFLMAO:

look out raptor boys...DADDIES HOME !!!!

seriously, great post ! i had not even considered GM would have stamped the hood for that scoop. I was going to remove mine and drop it for wrap...might just hand deliver with out driving the truck in.

GM went to a LOT of effort for a pretty ugly non functional scoop that just causes paint chips! I originally thought I wanted one when they first were shown on the ZR2 but after seeing it in person, it looks like a Pep Boys add on.

For the cost of the added aluminum to just stamp the hood with the cowl all together they could have covered the cost of all the re-paints and Amazon fixes they’ve had to do. Would have only lost the two-tone appearance.

Just an FYI, Gm has a Service Bulletin out on this Complaint.. As long as it`s still under 3 yr / 36K miles then they would`ve Repaired it for Free Under the Bumper to Bumper Warranty..

we are all aware of the TSB, something this simple should not have happened.... .02$ worth of foam over what they used and there probably wouldnt be a problem.
they fixed it for 24, and removed the scoop from the TB, it is not only Zr2 from what i can see.

hey research this folks : GM service bulletin # PIT5930A
maybe they will paint the scoop a matte or satin for us while they are at it

I put an Air Design scoop on my 19. These look like a royal pain wow. Thankfully I can remove mine and still have a full no hole hood. Good luck and post the after shots !
