In a short time owning 1500 trailboss I love the pickup, so far mixed driving town and highway 18.7 mpg avg.
I traded jeep with diesel for pickup..
I got this for light duty chores when I don't need my 3500 Duramax or f450 dump trucks.
I really like the 5.3 engine, it feels like a good all around engine.
They had a turbo 4 which is a no go, that is not enough engine for fullsize, problems Ford has with Ecoboost not going to a small engine. I liked the 6.2 gas one they had but it was not a Lt like I wanted.
Drives very well and rides good.
Ride quality is close to my 21 ram TRX I was impressed

I am also super happy with my 5.3 :) I don't use it to tow much and it has plenty of pep IMO.
I had a 5.7 Tundra and IMO I don't feel like this has less HP because the 10sp tranny makes it just keep on pulling.
As far as gas mileage I am from southern CT, and I recently did 600 miles to upstate NY with some highway and a bunch of back roads, and when I got home I averaged exactly 18.7 mph.

I check mine frequently, and if i'm totally back roads it's around 15-16 worse case, on highway I get around 20ish if I'm driving 70-80mph, IF i slow down to 50ish it goes up quite a bit, but I never drive 60.
My Tundra averages 12 for the entire 10 years I owned it.

I too have a ‘23 LT TB 5.3 and love the heck out of this truck. Thought I was going to suffer from lack of hp coming from a ‘16 RAM HEMI. But as said here it has plenty of pep. Would had loved the 6.2 but it did not make sense with the high gas prices. This is by far the nicest truck or vehicle for that matter that I have ever owned. Now, what would have been my fantasy truck would had been the RAM TRX. But I am a Chevy person now, hopefully they don’t fail me like RAM did. There are a few things that bother me about the TB, like DFM and auto stop start, but other than that it is love.
Congrats on the new purchase, by the way.

i can say i have owned several GM 5.3 vehicles...they run good and with a minor tune tweak, they come alive.

my current with the 6.2 is night a day different, but it were a daily driver...i can see the fuel mileage being a downside. mine says 18.6 best, with a 9 average...at only 900 miles. i may take a 1600 mile round trip very soon, so we will see what a good average with a 34" tire is like

I'm around 19.5 AVG and 21.5 best with my 5.3 and 8 speed that has over 100K miles on it......no complaints.

Keep that speed 65 or under and she will give you 20 mpg.

Pulsar LT programmer will disable your auto stop and the DFM. a little pricey but also gives a few more options to play with your truck.

TRX I love it but it's 10mpg no matter what you do.
I love a Chevy no doubt, I love how my trail boss drives
I was thinking of the TRD PRO, but I was buying 2021 year and did not like the inside of the Toyota. I was always and still am a Chevy fan.

Yes I also considered the new Tundra TRD Pro before buying my TB, but I was really let down by the interior. It looks great in pictures, but much like the Ram interior, it just feels so cheap...it's like that feeling when you know you are looking at wood-look vinyl, instead of real wood, or granite-look HPL countertop instead of real granite. The whole interior feels that way. Combine that with the nightmare drivetrain setup that thing has...that was enough to make me RUN from that thing. Definitely a cool looking truck though.
