I just bought a 2022 Chevy Trail Boss with the 5.3. I don't see ADM or AFM anywhere in the engine bay. I don't have anything like the earlier models that I can find telling me it is switching from V8 to V6 or V4. Does my year have the Active Fuel Management system? How would I tell for sure? Kind of sad my 06 Silverado 5.3 has been rock solid for this many years and 220k miles and I worry about lifter failures on the newer ones.

The LT style motors have DFM, not AFM. It can run on any combination from 1 to 8 cylinders. There is no indication on the dash what it's doing. There is also nothing on the engine stating anything like this. It mentions it on the window sticker and also in the owners manual.

Buy a Carfax for your vehicle. It should contain an original window sticker that will tell you if you have DFM or not.

Mine is the Custom and not the LT does that make any difference?

Your 2022 will have the internals for DFM, but given the year model just depends if you have the “chip” to make it active because of the covid years. Mine is a 22 limited (not refresh) and the window sticker states it’s not active

Thank you I hate that the 5.3 was so reliable and lasted so long they had to mess with it...

And mine is a '22 LT Limited and it does have DFM active, there's just no knowing for sure unless you see that window sticker.

My truck is a Fort Wayne truck, maybe that makes a difference?

Just a thought, when my truck was slated to be built I contacted GM support through the online chat and they told me a build date. I wonder if they could tell you active/inactive by the VIN?
