Air intake

I’m looking to spend more money on my TB because I can. Thinking about a cold air intake but I don’t want any obnoxious intake noise since I’m old and like peace and quiet. Are the CAIs much louder than the stock airbox?

If you don't want one that is very noisy, you want to avoid intakes with aluminum tubing. You will want to stick with plastic or carbon fiber. One with a closed air box will help a little bit too, not one with an open top.

I like the CAI I went with, definitely can hear is sucking major air, so maybe it’s not something you would like?

Love the Cold Air Inductions CAI, easy to install (uses the existing lower half so simple as can be), well made and looks great! I didn't notice a real difference in noise, but thats with a Borla S.

Have the Cold Air Inductions kit as well on my 6.2. Did not notice an increase in noise at all. Went with CAI because it is made of metal and looks way, way better than the plastic ones from others like K&N.

Mine has the factory “GM Performance” intake and I honestly haven’t noticed it to be overly loud. I also have the “Performance” exhaust so there is some rumble…but not annoying by any means.

The GM one is CARB legal and about $100 more than others that are not. Might be worth it. Although my 21 TB doesn't require a smog check for another 5yrs and I probably won't even have the truck.

I run the S&B. Was pretty quiet. Then I added the Borla exhaust!
If you improve the intake you should do the same for the exhaust.!

Avoid the K&N intake with the aluminum tubing, super obnoxious. I can even hear the throttle plate closing when I turn off the truck lol. But I love the sound, personally.

How did you do that? Smog once every 5 years? I'm in SD too...
