If you're thinking of doing a lift or level that requires access to the drivers side top of strut at home, all the videos online cover how to with a gasser. Accessing the strut was a bit of a mystery until i figured out how to remove teh airbox.

You have to take apart the air box, snorkel, remove the plastic cover on the grill to open the snorkel to remove the airbox, theres a bracket, a reservoir a MAF sensor, and dont forget to take off the hood lever to get the plastic panel off.... takes a while but after youve done it once youll be a pro!

all the stuff i unclipped, unscrewed or removed to access the nuts on the top of the strut.

Disclaimer: im not a mechanic

I have the duramax and I installed Kings in the front! I did everything on a lift at my shop. I did not remove anything from the top and did the complete job from the wheel well area. Maybe I am confused but why did you have to take the top apart?

I couldn't get any tools in to open the nuts on the top of the strut to remove the strut. The passenger side was no issue at all.

Wish I could take a picture of it now to show you, but the 3 strut bolts each have plastic connectors on them to hold wire harnesses, and the air box was sitting right on top. Everything was jammed in there and no room to work or access the nuts, or to remove the wire harnesses.

Maybe I gave up to early. Cool Kings BTW

Thanks, Yeah it was tight the ratchet wrenches really helped. I did have the truck up on the lift at eye height so that could have also helped. Congrats on the Duramax TrailBoss, Its an awesome truck! If you haven done it yet look in to the up fitter switch kit. Makes for a really clean install when adding lights and compressors ect.

Actually i purchased all the LEDs, SST Lift, Upfitter switches, rough country LED Grill lights and curt brake controller before I even got the truck

But after installing the curt brake controller, i see that it plugs into the same unused plug as the upfitter switches do. I need to do a bit of research before I install the upfitter. Do you have an aftermarket brake controller too?

Thx

The upfitter has the provision for the brake controller. I have not installed the brake controller yet . Check out this link upfitter diagram
There is so much built in to that setup. Even gives you a 200amp circuit for a winch or snowplow!
You can move the fuses in the box left or right to make the key on power or constant! I am still learning all the cool features
