Just completed our yearly trip to June Mountain in the TB 5.3. We started at about 100 ft elevation, 65 degrees. Drove 400 miles and ended up at 7600 feet and about 10 degrees. Truck loaded up with 4 people and supplies for a 4 day ski trip. Performed flawlessly as it has for 45K miles. Avg 16 mpg for 800 miles in less than ideal conditions. We all hear a lot of negative posts about GM, Silverados, etc. I just wanted to post something positive showing that the majority of GM products are damn good and in my ownership experience ( TB, 2 Vettes, 2 Tahoes, and a Chevette). all of my GM vehicles have been excellent. Take care and Happy New Year (y).
Forgot to mention, no electricity the first 2 days at June Mountain. That wasn't fun :p

Nice. Living in AZ since Feb; snow looks cool now; so long as it is "there." (Or I drive to Flagstaff to play.)
Thought I would miss it, but now.....NOPE!
But reminds me of my old house, I lived in for 10 years in ID

As for GM, I have had great luck from old Pontiac Bonneville SSEi's and GTP's, two Vettes (would have been one, but they don't last long when broadsided by a drunk in a PU truck and a traffic light who thought Red meant go), quite a few Trucks (GMC and Chevrolet) a few Hummers, but have to include a Nissan Frontier.

Thanks for the positive post! You're right, the tendency is to only post negative stuff about our trucks or experiences - kind of like the press...... I also have a '21 TB with the 5.3 and have had the same luck as you - it has worked reliably and flawlessly after several trips - only mine being to Colorado and the East Coast (from Kansas City). Great road trip vehicle. I love my truck but do look forward to the day when I can install bigger tires, as the stock ones just look too small for the size of the truck and the wheel well - my only complaint.

Again, thanks for a positive report on your TB!

The 5.3L is a good engine; had a 2016 GMC equipped with one. It will be history next year, when the new 5.7L hits the road.

Any “real” info on the 5.7? Will it have AFM/DFM or anything comparable?

Those picts look great!

I recently did a 1200 mile round trip to northwest Wyoming from Colorado springs and got 16.2 mpg (pb 21) with my 6.2 with massive amount wind in Wyo (50+ mph). Definitely handled better than some of my other trucks. Does show how planted and in control these new trucks are.

Only thing I have heard about it is from an old neighbor; GM powertrain head engineer (when I lived in Rochester Hills MI...many years ago). He has retired and basically told me it was on the books (along with a 6.6L). My thoughts are knowing GM it will most likely have some type or AFM and that damn A.S.S. to shut the engine down when you stop for no good reason.

Have not paid much attention to the new engines since my next move will be to a 3/4 ton with a 6.6L Gas engine (if I keep my RV) or just dropping down in size and then good chance it will be to a Nissan Frontier; possibly a GMC Canyon. No true need for an off-road vehicle anymore. When I first retired I moved to Moab UT with a Hummer H3 and a beat up Heep; almost everyday a different trail.

Yellowstone? My old playground.
