I was watching some videos to prepare for my 6112 install on my ‘22 Trailboss. I saw that the lower stock strut bolts use a nut that doesn’t fit on the 6112s. What hardware did you guys use for the two lower strut bolts on the 6112s?

The video mentions it doesn’t fit but doesn’t seem to say what he did.

Thanks!

any grade 8 will suffice, the lowers are more of a holding of placement from shifting...the compression of the strut / spring combo is always downforce unless air borne...then if travel allows, you would see minimal tension

That makes sense. I’ll do some checking on bolt diameter/length so I can grab some and have em ready when I do my swap.

I just had the 6112's installed on my truck and the bolts and nuts worked just fine,

Yep I did em myself last week. I didn’t realize they included their own nuts for you to use with the stock bolts

Did you ever get information on this topic? I drive a 2019 Chevy Trailboss LT, I took it to a shop to have the Bilstein 6112s and had the same dilemma. Mechanic stated that the strut bolts would not fit because the knuckle at the bottom of the 6112s would not accomodate the bracket/clip that wraps around the rancho shock knuckle at the bottom. I did see that youtube video you mention by "Wrenched Out Garage" creator.

I've also read on other forums how others used the OEM bolts, etc, but I'm just wondering if there's additional information or videos out there on how this was done???

I'm going to attach photos that compare the rancho to the bilstein; and I'm attaching a diagram pic I found for a part on amazon just to describe what I'm referring to. Basically the part numbered 3 won't fit on the Bilstein 6112s; therefore part number 2 (according to my mechanic) won't fit.
