I’m doing some horse trading with my uncle, who has a toolbox off of his ’18 Silverado that was in a wreck and destroyed the front end. He kept the toolbox, but his new truck has a tonneau cover. I’m trading my console safe with digital lock from my ‘21 AT4 but his toolbox has been sitting in a garage for 6 months and is super dirty, it also has a haze to it. What is the safest way to clean it up, not only from the dust but from the haze? I see lots of products out there, but no consistent suggestions other than not to use harsh chemicals. i also want to put some sort of clear coat or wax on when I’m done to help seal and protect it.

Cant use that on black finish. Only on bare metal per manufacturers and google reviews. Its more like the finish on black rims. Came nice and shiny but more dull now.

Is it just painted with regular paint with a clear coat? If so, just treat it like your truck. Wash, polish, wax/ceramic coating.
You can also prime it, spray paint whatever color you like , then clear coat it.
