Just had my Borla Pro XS muffler installed today. I am pretty happy with it over stock. I wish it was a tad bit louder, but it does give off a nice deep tone and rumble. You can hear it when you get on it. I wanted something that was not to loud as it is our family truck, may go a bit louder later down the line. If you want something a bit louder than stock with a deeper tone, I can recommend it, but if you want something has a loudness to it, this is not it. Hard to explain, but it just sounds better than stock.

What year is your rig? I have a 23 and im wondering what works for the 2023 , 5.3

2021, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Its a universal muffler. The shop had to weld new pipes etc to make it fit, but all done for under 100 bucks.

Cover the six mesh resonators at the tail pipes .. you will gain a huge sound improvement…. Some aluminum can cut to fit squares and hose clamps will work ….

wouldn't it be easier to use something like J-B Weld Exhaust Weld, or Permatex Muffler Weld to cover the resonators? I've never understood these resonators anyway, you would think any kind of opening such as the mesh would make it louder and not quieter.

Yes, I have heard of doing this. People have also used high temp tape. I may give it a go and see what the results are.

If you do decide to go this route, maybe download a decibel meter app and take a before and after reading to know the quantitative change.

I ended replacing the aluminum can with hose clamps with full size band clamps from Amazon..

The mesh resonators are there to assist with drone. If you have a DFM disabler then its no big deal, but you will definitely hear drone if you cover all of them without a utilizing a DFM disabler.

Yes if you only cover four of the six it helps with the drone around town and still allows for a great open throttle rumble …this cheap mod is easily reversible .. just swapping the muffler and leaving mesh resonators open exhaust sound is only a slight slight throatier than stock until you floor it , so drone will not be an issue in that form

Never could figure out how the resonators worked until I found this today!
The Resonance Free Pipe (RFP) takes the place of a traditional resonator with much less weight and bulk. Some vehicle applications however still use resonators. An RFP works by venting a small amount of gas through the mesh in the pipe to break up standing waves which cause resonance in longer pipe sections. One tuning valve is used on the 5.3L L84 and two tuning valves are used on the 6.2L L87.

2 valves on the 24 up 6.2L...the 23 or early 23 only has 1 pre muffler...the 24 has pre and post
