I had an aftermarket exhaust installed and immediately my CEL came on . The code was for an exhaust flapper. I’m guessing it’s talking about the active exhaust. The problem I’m having is I can’t find the wire to plug in the simulator to clear the code .

need to start near the stock location, hopefully they tucked it up and wrapped it...just look hard at any of the wiring close by.
fingers crossed, they didnt cut he harness off.

I called the guy who installed the aftermarket exhaust and he said he tucked the harness up into the truck and zip tied it out of the way . He said he would pay for the simulator and install it free of charge so let’s hope that resolves the CEL .

Simulator will solve the CEL issue. I Installed the simulator 10 months ago and no CEL since.

That’s good to hear ! Are there any specific steps that need to be followed when installing it? (disconnecting the battery for instance) or does it just connect in the wire harness slot and that’s it?

The simulator I got from Paragon Performance is a direct plug-in to the socket. No need to disconnect the battery.
I wrapped the plug with electrical tape for weather protection, and zip tied it out of the way.

Good to know guys . I appreciate the correspondence. How long does it take for the code to clear?

Did I find the wiring harness for the active exhaust?
What is that plugged into? When we removed the active exhaust, the only part left was the wiring harness that plugs into the removed exhaust valve assembly, which was taken out with the whole system. The only thing remaining was the wiring that activates the exhaust. It’s a female plug where you attach the simulator. I don’t recognize what you showed.

I’m guessing it is where you plug the simulator. This is a 6.2 2024 Trailboss LT . I found a picture on the internet and there is a part number in the plug . It matches my part number that I took a picture of under the truck .

That’s it. Put a baggie over it and zip tie it out of the way.

Ok , I will once I have the simulator in hand the second picture I posted was the one I found online . The simulator I bought is the exact one in the picture. I’ll post updates .
