So I drive two trucks one is a brand new 2022 Tahoe 5.3/10 speed and the other is a 2022 refresh 2.7ho TB. I have come to the conclusion that I like the 2.7 TB more. There is very little difference in performance but I hate to say it, the 2.7ho is more fun to drive (slightly), it’s torque curve is different and feels like it pulls better, it also makes the front end feel lighter and more responsive. The 10speed vs the 8 speed? They feel almost the same, and don’t care for one over the other. If there was no engine sound and you were told both were 5.3’s I think most would buy it because they are that close in performance. The 5.3 gets 2-3 mpg’s worse mileage vs the TB I imagine if the Tahoe had a 2” lift and big tires it would be closer to 5-7+. So in short I’m glad I got the 2.7ho vs. the 5.3 I just hope it has the longevity of the 5.3, or hopefully even more. I guess one big bonus is that the 2.7 doesn’t have the lifter issues of the other GM v-8’s.
