Currently in the hunt for a Trail Boss to replace my 2018 Silverado LTZ. Hard to find a good used Trail Boss so looking at new options. I’m looking for feedback on buying a new TB. I’m currently looking at some Trail Boss Custom models. After driving the LTZ for a few years, I’m looking to decrease the cabin tech rather than increase. I have all the bells and whistles on the LTZ only to realize I use very few of them. Just looking for a truck that will get me to my hunting spots, about town for things and be reliable. BTW- looking at 5.3 V8s for proven reliability, escaping the failed 8-speed transmission, and standard bed (not rock crawling or extreme off-roading).

Looking for your feedback and suggestions.

I know your in PA, but if you were willing to make the trip to St. Augustine, FL, I just traded in my 21 LT Trail Boss with 32k miles. They are asking $47,900, but in my opinion that is way to high. They gave me 41k for it, so they have room to negotiate. It was a great truck, they just gave me a great trade and great deal on a 24 that I could not pass up. Its at Beaver Toyota, St. Augustine. Probably way further than you were looking, but it is in great shape and it was very well taken care of. I almost backed out of getting the 24 because I had a hard time letting it go.

I went with the Custom trim when I ordered my 2021 Trail Boss because I didn't want to pay an extra $7K for the LT trim for only a few things I kind of wanted. In 21 the 5.3's had the 6 speed trans. I decided to go with the 6.2 because it had the 10 speed, but that was before everything came out about the issues with the 6.2s. A leather wrapped steering wheel was the only thing I couldn't order from factory, but found a new one with a blemish on the trim. I swapped my trim and buttons to it and all is good. I have leather covers and a power seat to swap in yet.

Where you at in Pa?

Stupid phone…check out Mark Martin Motors, in Ephrata. They sell a ton of trucks. I bought a 2020 custom TB from them a year ago.

Couldn’t be happier.

Thanks. It’s a bit of a drive and I want to trade my truck to avoid as much of PA sales taxes as possible. Have a few Custom and LT TBs locally I’m looking at. My problem is box size. I prefer a standard box over the short. Short boxes are everywhere.

Nearly impossible to find a Standard Bed Trail Boss. Chevy shop a city away has a 2023 Custom Trail Boss with the 3.0L Duramax that has my attention. Going to test drive it in the next could days. GM "executive" vehicle with 31k miles on it. Doesn't check all the boxes, but much more affordable platform to start the build.

I was going to order my truck with a standard bed as I think it was only $300 more for it, but the dealer told me it would add 6+ weeks to the build time. It wasn't a deal breaker for me so I went with the regular bed. I believe the standard bed is only made on the Mexico assembly line. I may be wrong though. They at least have to batch up enough orders to change the assembly line for the longer beds and frames.

Just drove a LT Trail Boss tonight in Riptide Blue. Nice truck, but typical dealership playing with the numbers; low ball my LTZ trade-in and provide a "company discount" off MSRP (with destination charge) then re-insert destination fees on the back end.
Heading to another dealer tomorrow that has a used 2023 Custom Trail Boss with a Standard Bed and 3.0L Duramax engine. Looking for feedback on going with a Duramx over 5.3L or 6.2L V8 Gas engine.

i know several with the 3 options....
the Babymax guys love theirs, just as drivers....towing takes a huge dump on MPG
the 5.3 guys have zero complaints about lack of power
the 6.2 guys, we all just smile as we pass them up

Another day, another dealership visit and test drive.
Today found me at a more local dealer to test a 2023 LT TB Std Bed with the Duramax. Truck drove very similar to my LTZ Std Bed. This was a GM corporate truck and just released for sale. They admitted that they had not completed the inspection for CPO certification. Honestly, it's going to be a stretch. The front end was humming loud from the moment forward motion started. Not tires, sounded like CVs humming a tune. Hence, I eliminated the use TB from consideration. As luck would have it, the new Cypress Gray LT TB that was on their website, but no where to be found on the lot had just arrived and staged for initial prep. They pulled it around for me and I may be sold. I like the color and it has everything I was looking for minus leather seats.....

WHICH, brings me to my next question for TB owners out there. Any issues or concerns with the cloth seats? I spend a good deal of the hunting season out in the muck with the truck, so I've favored leather for easy cleanup. Can I expect the same from the cloth seats? Prepared to immediately invest in Rough Country neoprene seat covers if necessary. Looking for real world experience/feedback.

Thanks
