Has anyone else tried the Range AFM/DFM disabler and if so what have your experiences been.

It all depends on the year of your truck. 2019 - 2022 LTD you need the Pulsar LT. The Range will not work on 2019 and up trucks.

The Pulsar LT will not work on the 2022 Refresh and up.

a disabler doesnt remove the problem, it only eliminates the dropping out of the cylinder. i do not think the issue is as much of a COKING problem like earlier years, but rather a metallurgical issue due to poor base materials. the lifters can still fail with a disabler.

As I'm doing my deep dive into the issue, the question of what if you drove in L-9 to disable the DFM system (or used the Range or Pulsar to disable it) for the vehicles equipped with the 10 speed transmission for an extended period are you doing damage to the DFM lifters by NOT utilizing them on a regular basis.

I contacted Range's customer support today and their customer service person mentioned that there have been transmission surging with some of the 10 speeds and that they recommend the Pulsar for people with 10 speed transmissions (there was no mention of this on their website when I ordered it but that's another issue).

But even then the question of not utilizing the lifters for an extended amount of time comes into play and what happens when you do have to use DFM for any reason (emission's check for example since their have been reports of emission failure tests when the Pulsar is used...well at least one anyway). So basically, you're damned if you do...damned if you don't.

Failure rates are believed to be 2-3% if what I read is correct. 2021' models seem more affected, as do the 6.2 engine. Take all this with a grain of salt as I am mechanically challenged... except the part about Range's customer service recommendation not to use the Range on the 2020 5.3 or 6.2... I got that strait from them.

I don't think disabling the lifters for an extended period of time will do more harm than if they were DFMing.

if you are that worried about it, just keep your foot in it...dont give it the choice to drop cylinders.

drive the damn truck, and stretch its legs every know and then,

sounds like a bunch of DPF diesel guys crying because the turbo vains gum up...i hate it too, but a heavy diesel wasnt designed to run for groceries...

Confused... I have a 22 trailboss with the 6.2L and the window sticker shows I have Dyamic Fuel Management and the sticker also does not show a credit for it due to a chip shortage. I've never seen while driving ( towing or not ) on dash or in any of the settings the changing to the use of fewer or more cylinders being used displayed anywhere. Am I missing something here ? Is this dfm not displayed like on slightly older trucks and is it done in secret in the computer as it sees needed ?

The DFM is not shown like on 2014-2018 models. The only way to know this system is on is shudder and hesitation you get from it and if you don't have the stock exhaust on you will be able to hear the helicopter sound from he shutoff of cylinders.

Thanks I couldn't find this info anywhere. I'm looking into dfm disablers now but I gotta make sure that it won't give the dealership a reason to void the warranty.
