DO NOT BUY RECON TAILLIGHTS IN STATES WITH SALT CORROSION THREAT

These guys just stopped responding to me after they sent me replacement resistors which made the problem worse. When I pulled the taillights out to replace the resistors there is corrosion everywhere, these aren’t built to withstand it. $600 down the drain for nothing, hope this helps someone else.

when I was shopping for smoked tails I found posts of recon having issues with the connections and even condensation. you would think for the price there would be little issue. I did also find other lesser known tails with some of the same problems. I hope they at a minimum come to an agreement for you, keep trying. other things to try that some companies respond to. the BBB, doesn't hurt to file a claim spelling out the problem along with other online reviews.

Alpha rex is an option....not sure what they do to protect from corrosion...but i bet most overlook the thought.

I have a post on here about the corrosion issues, after I replaced the corroded connector the taillights have been working perfectly since.

I just cut out the bad connector and weather proofed the splice with heat shrink butt connectors.

Not making excuses for their poor design, but you don't have to toss out the lights if you still want to make them work.

I have seen plug in LED resistors for the 19+ SIlverados on ebay if you don't want to mess with rebuilding them or if the resistors themselves are beyond repair.

I would have entertained weatherproofing any connections if they could have sent me back replacements but they ghosted me. So I spent $60 boxed them back up and sent them their shit lol oh well. Live and learn

For the most part, aftermarket tail lights across the board are pretty terrible. Certainly there are some that are better than others, but it's pretty much always the seal that is the problem. It's funny that it's apparently cheap and easy to implement multi-element LED lighting and animation yet something as simple as proper sealing seems too difficult and expensive to bother with. This is a big sore point in the Jeep community too as the only viable LED taillight option for the JLs is the factory ones, which in Jeep tradition are horribly overpriced. There are seemingly hundreds of aftermarket offerings and they are all terrible...1-2 years is all they last.

Surprisingly the seals on the actual lights seemed fine, as opposed to my aftermarket fog lights. But all of the connections are useless as they come and broke off inside the connections. If they wanted to be better with their customer service they might offer upgraded weatherproofed connections or at least a disclaimer that says hey, you might want to do this yourself to buy a few more years on them
