Sorry if there's a double post, getting used to the format. Anyway, I have what turns out to be a Canadian built 2021 TB, I bought used in the US. Does anyone know how to kill the daytime running lights? Apparently it's the law in Canada.

Also, I know Duratrac is famous for being loud. I run Mud Terrains on my Jeep and love loud tires, but this is a high pitched rotating hum that is down right ear piercing between 45 and 60 mph. Truck has 28000 miles. Is this the normal duratrac noise?

You can't kill the Canadian DRL's unless you can find a dealer that is willing to reprogram the Body Control Module. I had an 08 Avalanche that was from Canada and even though you could turn the headlight switch off, it would automatically turn on the headlights whenever you put it in gear.

Yeah, everybody seems to complain about the Duratracs once they get over 20K miles or so. I have 20" wheels and have the Goodyear Territory MT's that came factory on them. No issues so far, but I have only been running them in winter and only have just shy of 18K total on the truck.

Oddly enough, I wasn't aware it was a Canadian thing. I thought it was Custom trim thing because so many Customs run around with their headlights on in the daytime, apparently. Either that, or there's a whole lot of Canadian built trucks driving around Chicgoland.

If DRL's are a Canadin thing, do the LT trucks built for the US have the LED front lights on in the daytime?
From what I've read (Google), all vehicles built in Canada are required by law to have DRL's.

Sorry, misread your comment at first. The LTs I've seen in my area have small LEDs on during the day, but the main lamp is not.

Yeah, we've had DRL's here in Canada since 1990. I've driven in the US quite a few times in the last ten years and I thought that many US vehicles also came with DRL's; it seemed to me that more than half of the cars had front lights on in the daytime.

We have DRL's too but they weren't required until the mid 2000's like they had been in Canada. I believe in Canada the headlight is required to be on during the day, whereas the US vehicles can be the headlight, turn signals or a dedicated lamp on the front, such as the sideways Vs on the Silverado LT and above trims. Custom trims do not have such a lamp, so the high beam headlights are used at lower voltage for the DRLs. Also Canadian vehicles CANNOT be overridden for the DRL's unlike US models where you can turn the light switch to the left for off and it turns off all auto lights until the next time you start the vehicle.

U might wanna make sure you don’t have a Bad Wheel Bearing (Hub), I literally just had a 20 Suburban about 2 weeks ago that was growling going down Highway, It had 28,000 some miles on it.. I lifted it & found the Right Front Hub Loose when You Rock it Up & Down, That Lady was not even complaining about the Noise, She Brought it in for a Retrofit for the heated seats & heated steering wheel… FYI, I work for a GM Dealer in Indiana. I Also own a Trail boss and those same tires on mine & the ones I Drive for work are noisy but definitely not Irritating to drive….. Might wanna Check!

I'm willing to bet your Trail Boss doesn't have 50k miles on it yet. That seems to be about the point that the tires, almost overnight, went from loud to unbearably loud. A speed of 50-55 mph on my duratracs causes a roar and an oscillating wah, wah, wah, that will drive you mad.

Yep, Your right, I have 16,000 something on on mine now and they have been Noisy right off of the Car Carrier since New… Chances are if there at 50,000 miles on them and that Bad then might as well go ahead & replace them, But he stated his has had 28,000 so therefore I mentioned the Hub, Tire Rotations are also a Must otherwise the Fronts will Cup on edges..

Yeah it started around 20k. We took it to the dealer and they said it was the tires and rotated them. I'm guessing they never checked the hubs though. No matter, between the Duratracs and the Canadian head lights I went and traded it on Saturday for a '24 TB LT. Love the new interior!

All aggressive AT tires get loud around the 20k mark. Duratracs are among the louder examples, but I have come to find that it's moreso the timbre of sound that they make that's the problem. The Nitto RG's on my Wrangler are at 28k miles and loud as hell too...but the noise they make is duller in timbre and thus not as annoying.
