Starting the process of getting new tires and I have decided on direct replacement of the stock 18" Duratracs. Well, both places I got quotes from, told me that the "Duratrac RT" is replacing the regular Duratracs and the old ones are being discontinued.

Just thought I'd pass that info along as there's always Duratracs mentioned somewhere in just about every tire thread.

The Durtrac RT's are the newly redesigned DuraTrac. I believe the are 3 Peak rated now with better siping.

Do they have same hum as the old ones?
I'll let you know as they're being installed tomorrow. I expect they will have the same hum as the old ones, and I also expect that they will get louder as they age and wear.

They are a terrific tire for my specific Northern Ontario Canada conditions though so I wanted to give them another go.

New tires on, noticeably quieter up to 40mph (65 km/h). Highway speed test later this afternoon.
Was worried the new Duratrac design would take time to grow on me, but all it took was 2 seconds. I think they look great.

Goodyear is trying to bring their off-road tire range in line with the market. The Duratrac was originally designed for commercial construction use (thus the reason it has always been classified as "commercial off-road"), and outside of the OE versions, doesn't really offer a proper consumer 1/2-ton version. The carcass is built for 3/4 and 1-ton weight classes but there's no sidewall armor so you end up with an overweight tire that tears like a passenger-weight tire.

All those things are what the new R/T should fix. There's also the Territory MT which is really the tire they are pushing for the "I want an aggressive looking off-road tire that doesn't suck at all the stuff I use it for the most" (meaning on-road manners) applications. But I imagine the Duratrac R/T will be much more in that direction than the original was.

Highway drive was great, an ever so slight hum at 60-70 mph. I am confident in saying that these new Duratrac RT tires are absolutely quieter than the old Duratracs when they were brand new.

That is a great aggressive looking tire! Mine have the Territory MT but those new Duratrac RT will definitely be on my list whenever I need new ones, should be a while hopefully .

I just swapped out the OEM Duratracs at 61,000 miles (all were around 4 to 5/32) for the new Duratrac RT. Went with the E Rated and no complaints after the first 1,000 miles. They are quieter and feel more grounded and stable. We'll see if they last as long as the originals and if they get louder with age.

I have about 1500 miles on my Duratrac RT - LT tires and I have found the same as pbprime. Much quieter than the old ones so far, and the truck does seem to handle better.

I know 1500 miles is way to soon to say definitely, but so far I'm impressed with the RT's.

Would you be able to post a couple pictures of your truck with these tires showing the whole truck? I am interested in these new duratracs once mine are in need of replacing. Thank you.
