Has anyone done a e85 conversion on the 2019-2023 Trail Boss . I’m looking to do the conversion on my 2019 Trail Boss. I had a 2014 Silverado that came equipped with the flex fuel e85 and I loved the way it performed and of course the gas price lol

E85 isnt about mileage. I believe you can add the Sensor for E85, just need to make sure the present injectors are adequate for the additional amount of fuel required

Did you like the mpg too?
It wasn’t too big of a difference maybe to a full tank 20 miles difference or so. The big difference came in in regards to gas prices and performance. Gas in California now has gone down by still paying $4.45 for 87 and e85 is $2.89 per gallon.

Like I have previous posted. If you can afford a $60,000 truck you used be able to buy a premium fuel. Lol I have always ran premium ( top tier gas) after the first fill-up from the dealer. Premium gas in Michigan is around $4.00 pre gallon with a 93 octane.

I haven't but shops do make them. I hear ya on the performance piece I eventually want to mod this little 5.3 with boost and I'll definitely set it up with an E85 fuel setup for a high boost tune.

Not sure why GM went away from the flexfuel engines. They had numerous ones. My 08 Avalanche had the 5.3 with the flex fuel. There's other things to consider in the engine as ethanol is more corrosive to seals and such and also gets more water in it in the cold weather.

i think it was more about parts availablity, and the push for EV....Ethanol is on hold for a while.

FOr anyone running over 87, just because....throw your dollars my way if you want to waste them. Running higher octanes (TOP TIER>>>) does nothing if not needed

if only 20 miles difference that's great, most studies I've seen the mileage is down 10-20%

Again, my life is all about speed and toys (superchargers/turbos, speed boats, UTV/ATV, snowmobiles, and etc. and I always buy just premium instead of wondering what is in that gas can. We're all different! Me, just lazy!

I'm buying premium octane and top tier fuel because the owners manual recommends it. I have the L87 under my hood. People more intelligent than I wrote that thing. And, with GM's history of lifters failing I don't want them to come back and say, "You didn't follow the instructions in the owners manual." I'm familiar with the failings of ethanol in fuel. I started writing papers on it back in 2007. It's taken awhile, but people have been slowly waking up. That's an easy one to call BS on since it's low hanging fruit. As for top tier fuel, it has additives/detergents in it that help keep valve bodies cleaner to reduce carbon buildup that could lead to component failure. I'm admittedly not an expert on the subject, but in also intelligent enough to see the difference between "puffing" in advertising and flat out lies. One is actually illegal.

with these engines, yes the premium is preferred due to compression ratio...IF the engine were less compression with a slightly larger cam...you could make the same HP, but most likely not the torque. As far as deposits go...NOTHING will aid these motors on the intake side if left as is. you do not have the fuel spray high enough in the system to keep the valve clean like need. I do recommend a catch can !
