So code P0449 showed up again with check engine light turning on. It’s the malfunction to the vapor canister vent solenoid. The vent gets stuck shut, so fuel EVAP vent solenoid fails, it may not be able to properly vent and release the pressure from the vehicle's fuel tank properly. This may result in excessive pressure building up, and then escaping when the fuel tank is opened.

Has anyone had this issue? If so did it ruin anything else to trucks fuel system??

Member “NorHawk” posted a thread on Dec 1st with the same problem. I think the dealer replaced some parts but not sure exactly what.

Hey there, new to this Forum. My 2020 Trail Boss, 5.3L recently started throwing the P0449 code too. Unfortunately I have 45000 miles on it. I took it to the dealer and he checked the solenoid and that is fine, this issue is in my wiring. Bad ground. He wants me to approve $600 to troubleshoot the wiring to find the issue. I told him no thanks and am looking at other options. The unfortunate part is the remote start won't work with the check engine light on. This is a "permanent" code. Even if I clear it, which I did, it comes right back as soon as the truck is started.

If anyone else has had this issue and gotten it resolved I'm all ears!

Yes, this is exactly what happened with my truck also. I changed the whole EVAP canister, so I’m thinking wiring also.

Very frustrating. I've taken it to the dealer for all maintenance since I've owned it and this should not be happening on a 2 year old truck.

Yes frustrating! For me I live in Hawaii where there is no Emissions test law. So I’m still able to pass safety check. It’s just very irritating for me to look at that check engine light every time I drive!

I just wanna make sure that it doesn’t screw up anything else that has to do with the engine, but it’s emissions so I should be fine

With the check engine light on my remote start won't work. It's cold here in Michigan!! LOL

Hello all,

I have the P0449 code on my 20 Trail Boss LT and it shows bad EVAP Solenoid. The dealer said the part is fine but there is an issue in the wiring and wanted $600 to trace the wiring. I'm just over 45k miles and not covered under warranty. I decided to replace the part anyway which was easy for me to do but as suspected the issue is still there. My mechanic says it's a bad ground and says if I can find a schematic it would help prevent the need to open the wire harness to trace the wires.

Anyone one here have any access to any of the wire schematics for the Trail Boss or any other suggestions?

Also, how do I start a new question? I don't see an FAQ.

Thanks
