I don’t know about AWE, but I just installed a Borla S-Type and I couldn’t be happier. Louder and deeper than stock, growls when you step on it, but no drone when cruising. Perfect.
It just depends on what kind of sound you’re looking for. I went with a cheap but good option. I got a Borla Atak crate muffler for around $220 and had a shop install it. Total was around $600. It sounds awesome, not too loud at idle but when you step on it it’s mean and has a deep growl. The AWE will have a higher pitch sound.

just did my first road trip with the Borla S-type, true duals... overly impressed. there is ZERO drone, and virtually no sound in cab at 1700 rpm running 9th gear at 80 mph. it has a great sound, tone everywhere...except when you dont want it to.
i did about 1400 plus miles this weekend, also steadily notice the MPG go up. i was seeing about 12.9-13.2 with a 35" tire and a 6.2.... it increasingly went up to average about 14.6

I have the ATAK and no complaints. I would have bought the AWE if it was on the market when I got the ATAK as the quad tips are bigger and rumor is that it is louder than the ATAK.

I went with the AWE because of their no drone design. It sounds great all the way around.

For those who have the Borla Sport exhaust, I am trying to choose between the Sport and the ATAK, I live in a neighborhood and dont want to wake the neighbors but want something that is louder vs stock, I was told the Sport is not loud and hardly noticeable vs stock, any thoughts?
The Borla S-type is definitely louder. Especially on cold start up, but comes down to a nice throaty sound. I was tod the ATAK is even louder. I don't think you will be disappointed with S-type.

trust me, the neighboring apartments (traveling for work project) do not like the S-types cold start from a 6.2.
do not get the atak, in my opinion (48, hotrods, harleys and race cars)...the atak is a sound that is not intended for a truck. that tone is more of the built sports car exhaust note. If that makes since. i am not a fan in general of the LT motor exhaust notes with performance exhaust.
the S-type has a very aggressive cold note, and an extremely loud BARK on initial start hit. it mellow out quickly ( i am on 80 plus temps in the early am)...a 60 degree day would not be very nice on your neighbors
