Exhaust question

I was wanting to install dual black widow mufflers on my 25 trail boss with the 5.3. I called a shop and they said if I cut the third cat it will void the warranty. I did a quick check under the truck the other day and saw two cats and a flex pipe. Can anyone confirm the exhaust on a 25 trail boss?

Uhh THIRD cat??? I'd find a better exhaust shop. I haven't looked under any 2025s but I'm 99.9% sure nothing changed and there are only the two cats off each manifold. Then to a Y pipe, the muffler then single pipe out. On a Trail Boss it then Y's over the axle for 2 outs under the bumper.

That’s what I saw as well. Thanks for the info. I wonder if he just assumed it had a third cat since it’s new and hadn’t even seen one yet.

Find another place....a third party muffler shop not knowing what the exhaust is comprised of and more importantly, acting as a legal advice on a factory warranty issued by GM?
