Hello all, I am looking to get a new exhaust for my 6.2 (I have CAI installed and getting a tuner next week, also getting a MAS), I am trying to save a few dollars but want a good product: I am torn between the Borla S-Type or save some money and get the Rough Country system. Any recommendations or thoughts?

Are you trying to do just a cat back system? How loud do you want it? Also, what are your emissions regulations? Here in Texas, only certain counties will test emissions.

I want a Cat back system, as for noise I live in a neighborhood with kids so noise needs to be at moderate to lower end; Yes Cat back, Emissions is not an issue in Virginia

Borla S-type catback here, I love it! It sounds like a truck now and doesn't drone at all on the highway.

Cold starts are a bit load, but it tames down fairly quick.

Most Borla's i would say are on the moderated to loud spectrum. But i do love their sound. Flowmaster is probably as moderate as they come. RoughCountry seems to have decent reviews

Borla is dyno tested and has great reviews and I know I can not go wrong getting their exhaust, however from a cost aspect, the Rough Country looks appealing and their products have a good reputation. I started looking at videos and Rough Country does sound pretty awesome. I am not sure if the Borlas extra 600 is worth it, any thoughts.

i have the 2.7 TB. im jealous that you can put any exhaust system and make it sound mean

Have you considered doing just a muffler delete and leave the resonators near the tailpipe in place? Then if that isn't enough, delete the resonators next.

PMW's sounds really good...FOR A 5.3 :ROFLMAO:
But my 6.2 FULL BORLA S_TYPE is VERY ROWDY for about 30 secs and calms down to a perfect note....on or off throttle.

I installed Flowmaster Rough Country. Great sound. Not overwhelming. If you have the active exhaust, you will need a plug to bypass the active exhaust mechanism to avoid CELs. Paragon Performance sells them. $100 for two plugs. You only need one. Keep the other as a spare.

I did not realize Rough Country’s set up was by Flowmaster, I will have to check if I have an active exhaust system (honestly not sure what that is)

Look into MBRP. Plenty loud but not obnoxious. Half the price of Borla.

I have their cat back on my 2020 and am very happy with it. Doesn’t drone either.

Thanks for the replies. After reviewing I think I’ll end up going with a Borla S, it has T304 steel to stand up to the crazy Virginia weather, no drone for neighbors (there are multiple you tube videos to watch), million mile warranty, and great fitment. I do like the MBPR but after configuring one it was the same cost as the Borla (minus the tips). Hopefully with the CAI, MAF sensor, new Pulsar, and the new exhaust this truck should open up a bit and scream like a 6.2 should!

start with a Banks Pedal Monster....that was the biggest change.

i will say, i ran a bone stock 6.2...mine was on a 35, Borla, Airaid MIT and Pedal Monster on City 4...i let him take the hit and i walked past him with the rear tires spinning (intentionally) and was out by about 4 trucks
