Hi y’all,

New to the forums. I was thinking of installing a Fumoto drain valve. Has anyone done this before and which model did you use? Website says there might be fitment issues.

I have one on ALL of my vehicles. My Silverado is a 5.3 with almost 120K miles on it now. I have stripped drain bolts in the past and in an attempt to avoid ever doing that again, I purchased some Fumoto valves. The valve worked perfectly with no leaks, and as a side benefit I hadn't considered, having the drain valve allows me to get my engine oil a lot hotter (for a more complete drain) and I never have to worry about burning my hand trying to drain it.

One of the best minor purchases I have ever made for my vehicles. There is zero mess, and zero issues :)

do you recall the part number you ordered

There are a few options depending on the nipple length. 😁 I got the rotating valve. I have yet to do my first oil change so awaiting install

I don't recall the part number. I do remember getting the rotating valve because I wanted to position it a certain direction. However, you can get the part number from their website, that's how I searched it up last time.

My first thought is what if something hits it? Has anyone had any issues with this? I’m interested in getting one too. Seems like A LOT less mess to deal with

if you go to the fumoto website and put in your vehicle information, it will give you the part numbers. i have the 6.2 in my '21 TB and it say to use F137

I've put these on every truck and car I've had for the last 20 years. The rotating value is a little better since you can adjust it up to be more out of the way.

I off road my truck quite often, and have put a few dings and scratches on the skid plates, but the location of the valve is no where near being compromised. I was a little worried at first, but once I installed it and took a good look at its location, there is zero anxiety about it being hit or compromised.

That being said, I keep the original drain plugs stored in zip lock bags in whatever vehicle they are for, in case of an emergency.
