Google Navigation - 'Recalculating' / Freak Out

Anyone else been having a problem since some recent update, where when you are en route on a navigation through the built-in google maps, and anytime you pass an 'alternative route' (the grey other options) and pass such 'alternative rout' the damn things starts freaking out and displaying a 'recalculating' prompt while it continues to freak out (like zooming out and then back in) even though you were staying on the initial blue route??? Makes the whole things practically worthless...

Interesting, I have pre-refresh but for about a month or so have had problems with Google Maps (CarPlay) crashing and removing directions after setting a route.
