Hi folks
just noticed that the GPS is not saving my recent destination addresses after doing trips. The search for the address and the actual instructions during the trips work OK, but the addresses never get saved in the "RECENT" list. It used to work in the first few months I had the truck...now no good. Is this a problem with the head unit or is it a GM scam to get subscription money? 2024 TB LT 5.3 with 13.5 inch unit. Thanks!

have you owned the truck more than 90 days...if so, PAY UP>>>they want your $$$$

i do think it is an on star function through the GPS, my mobile device apps have no issue on the screen

This subscription to unlock features may end up being the reason my next vehicle isn't a Chevrolet. I have owned 6 vehicles in my life and all were Chevrolets, this BS is gonna end that streak. You listening GM?

My older vehicles had the maps downloaded to the vehicle. If you had Onstar they automatically downloaded new maps when new maps became available. Or, you could purchase the new maps on a micro-card which use to be $99 a year. When I had that I only updated every other year.
The newer vehicles use google maps for navigation and you need a signal to use it after your 90 days are up
You can use a hot spot from your phone to run it or you can purchase cellphone time for it. It also runs/works your app on your phone to work the vehicle… start, stop, lock, unlock, and maintenance like oil %, etc.
I purchased it, it’s $25 per month and I think it was T-Mobile(?)
I use my navigation a lot and I don’t want to go back to GPS units.
Or, just use the google maps on your phone.

My 2022 LTD has Android auto, so I can project my phone onto the truck screen and use my cell phone data to run Waze or Google Maps for no additional cost. It's my understanding that GM sees this as a missed opportunity to get a monthly payment from us and are no longer offering Android Auto and Apple Car Play enabled head units.
I was an early adopter of Android Auto and have come to love its functionality, I'm not looking to have a data plan on my phone and on my vehicle, it's redundant.

General Motors (GM) is phasing out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from its vehicles. GM announced the decision in March 2023, and has since doubled down on it.

Why is GM doing this?
  • Safety: GM says that people using their phones while driving are a danger to themselves and others. - BS, how is using a built in system different from a projected one?

  • Connection issues: GM says that CarPlay and Android Auto can have poor connections, which can lead to dropped calls or poor rendering. - Again, BS. This hasn't been an issue for years.

  • Immersive experience: GM wants to offer a more integrated experience for customers. - Read $$$

  • Subscription revenue: GM believes that subscription revenue is a good earning opportunity. - The real and only reason.

  • In-house infotainment software: GM believes its own infotainment software can stand on its own. - Sure it can, but see above.

Same here for a few other reasons (except had a few GMCs in the past mixture). I also have a Pro-4x Nissan frontier and none of this google map BS.
Pretty sure my next truck will either be a RAM or a Tundra. GM trucks appear to have more trouble than worth it as they progress to their next date in Bankruptcy court.

And GM if reading, it is the small BS that drives me crazy. Engine/trans/suspension I really like (so far) but the small stuff like the infotainment screen occasionally starting up but NO sound, need to turn off vehicle for about 10 minutes and it start back up. Failure to link all the time to the phone via bluethooth. And yea it is GM's software. I get in and out of the Frontier and same phone links every time. And that problem I noted in the Info system, on '25s, is well noted by the GM service since it appears to be rather well known at the dealer and has been reported multiple times.

Also, when going from earbuds to vehicle's bluetooth connection on the GM there is about a 10 second lag time to connect. My previous GM vehicles, my Frontier, I enter the vehicle start it up remove one earbud from my ear and INSTANT connection, no 10 second lag.

It seems like when GM gets more hi-tech they step back in time, while other manufactures actually go forward.
Maybe stop fiddling around with $100K plus EVs and move some of that engineering over to the bread and butter of your sales....TRUCKS! If it were not for trucks, I believe GM would have gone the way of the Packard and Studebaker back when they filed for BK.

Rant over....
