So I have two sets of wheels with different tires. I have the factory wheel on the factory duratrac's and then i have aftermarket wheels with Nitto Terra Grapplers. The 1st thing i noticed is that the Dura's are a whole lot louder on the road but boy do they handle wet/ice/snow conditions way better than the Nitto's like big difference. I swapped for the colder months in prep for any ice storms or snow and rain for the winter months I do plan to switch back in a few months just thought I'd share. What are some of yall's favorite all around tire?

For off road and inclement weather, I have found no better tire than the DuraTrac. As far as noise is concerned, I have found no tire worse than the Duratrac :)

Nittos are infamous for wet weather and snow grip deficiency, but hold up well otherwise.

The factory option Bridgestone Dueler RSW is an excellent all purpose and wet weather/light snow tire, but lacks off road traction when the trail goes to sand/mud/clay/deep snow.

Other tires that seem to be popular on this truck in alphabetical order:
BFG KO series
Falken Wildpeak AT3 and the newer AT4
Nitto Recon
Nitto Ridge Grappler
Toyo Open Country

I also agree the Duratracs are a good all around tire as far as look, dry/snow/dirt/mud performance. However they seem very easy to spin in wet conditions (that I have noticed). I have had the Duratracs on different trucks but now obviously have them on my 21 TB. These have 59K miles on them and still look new in terms of tread wear which I have been shocked with. They have gotten substantially louder during normal driving conditions. That is the one thing that I am hesitant of getting these tires again.

I am looking at the Falken WildPeak being my next choice.

My TB showed up with 20” Duelers. I had my doubts but those damn tires are phenomenal.
I’m from east central Wisconsin. Plenty of that white shit this year.
Wanted a bigger tire to fill up that cave of a wheel opening. Just can’t bring myself to pull them off.

Duratracs are hands down the best aggressive AT class tire for all-weather traction that I know of. Unfortunately they are also among the loudest. Currently i'm trying the new Territory MT and these seem to have the traction of the Duratrac without the noise. What remains to be seen is how they do once they have 20k miles on them.

Well, this is my first truck. It came with the Duratracs. Yes, they can get loud. However, I'm obviously in the minority about wet traction. Oh, well. It's just an opinion. However, when it came time to buying new tires I did go with the Duratracs again. This was due to weight and price when I upgraded to 35s (285/75r18). I had the rear tires break loose so many times in light rain and very light throttle input on the OE set that I'm not confidant this truck can be driven in the rain without being in 4Auto. I did keep it in 2wd during today's rain, so I guess we'll see.

I agree with you and the traction when on just wet pavement. It is rather easy (to easy) to have the rear tires slip.

How are the 285/75/18's treating you? I was looking at going with 295/70/18 to get a little wider tire and a couple inches taller than stock.

I think what you are experiencing with wet traction is caused by the light rear end of a pickup truck and not the tires. It takes a bit of getting used to. I was always an SUV guy so this was an adjustment for me as well. Guys who have been driving pickups for decades don't even think about it anymore.

Agree 100%!

I just put a set of 295/70r18 Toyo R/T Trails and glad I did! Fills out the wheel wells nicely.

I put 300 lbs of sandbags in the back of the truck for the winter, helps keep the tail end stuck better when the white stuff flies. Also helps with wet traction.

I built a H shaped frame that keeps the bags over the rear axle, there is a small hit to gas mileage though.

I think you’d need at least double that to really make any difference.
