Hello, I am new to this forum.
I am looking to buy an LT Trail Boss with the 5.3 liter engine, hope I can find one without the DFM cylinder deactivation system.
I am 63 years old, married and have 2 kids.
I have been in the Telco Business for 27 years and hope to retire soon.

You won't find a new one without DFM. From the factory only from late May 2021 on for a few months came without DFM from the factory due to the microchip shortage. My truck was built the beginning of May 2021 and has DFM but is also a 6.2L.

Welcome and good luck!
You may get lucky with a used one...I found a '22 a bit over a month ago with a 5.3 and no DFM and had only 31,600 miles.

I have a ’21 TB with the 5.3 in black. They’re definitely sharp looking trucks for the money. However I wish I did more research before pulling the trigger. The stock tires were awful, I already need brakes at 35k miles, and I wasn’t aware of the potential disastrous lifter issue. It feels like I’m just waiting for something to happen. That being said I did go through a dealership and purchased a 100k bumper to bumper warranty. The DFM can be deactivated with certain aftermarket parts or with a scanner. I wouldn’t let that hold you back.

DFM disabler DOES NOT fix the problem! The problem is defective lifters that can fail. I saw a guy on YouTube that had put a Pulsar on his truck with only a couple thousand miles and still had lifter failure.

From what I have read, the Pulsar device disables the AFM/DFM cylinder deactivation, you still have the inferior lifters in the engine from the factory but would supposedly have a smaller chance of lifter failure down the road if they are not constantly deactivating & reactivating.

I’m aware. Miscommunication. I know that doesn’t solve the lifter issue. I was simply listing the issues and a solution for the DFM. (I wouldn’t put a pulsar in my truck regardless) it would send my warranty right out the window.

You realize you can REMOVE the Pulsar and it doesn't leave any trace so it doesn't effect your warranty?

If I were to use the Pulsar I would definitely remove it before getting out of the truck at the dealership, what they don’t know won’t hurt me.

No, I didn’t. Still won’t put one under my hood though. No need for anything like that. Right now getting the bed possible aftermarket brakes is my concern.
