Hello everyone. New guy here and just seeing if y'all are experiencing the same issues/lemon process/way forward. So here's my sob story lol. I ordered my Trail Boss during the summer of 2020, get her all spec'ed up exactly how I wanted it. No badging, blacked out, sunroof, 5.3 and opted for cloth seats (no-one likes a sweaty butt/back in California). Here's where the issues began: 10K miles in I had the misfire/lifters go out. When I got it back (2 weeks later) I noticed they didn't put it back together correctly. You could hear the A/C condenser dripping water on the exhaust system (very noticeable). They tell me it is normal (no it isn't, plumbing wasn't routed properly). Let move forward, about 25K the transmission starts to "wine". Power was down tremendously. They tell me it is a transmission pump going bad (truck in the shop for another 2 weeks). NOW, 44k miles, the rear diff is leaking everywhere. Its in the shop again (still there on week 2 right now).

So I lawyered up and they are taking my case. The above issues are the major issues, I left out 3 other visits that took 3-4 days here and there.

Did I get the Friday evening build or is this becoming a new norm for Trial Boss's. I read other posts regarding software issues, lifter issues... I get it, but damn am I just that unlucky? Love some feedback. Thanks y'all!!

44k miles for a lemon law claim? California must be different than Texas in that regard.
Yep, we're pushing for the powertrain claim. Engine, Trans, now rear diff.. Seems I have a good claim (according to the lawyers). We went over everything and wouldn't have taken my case without good proof.

I don't see how you qualify for the lemon law?

What is the California Lemon Law?

If your new car is spending more time at the repair shop than it spends with you, you might have a lemon on your hands. Thankfully, the California lemon law is in place to protect consumers facing a sour deal.

Generally, the lemon law covers new vehicles with serious defects/malfunctions for a certain amount of time or mileage. If your vehicle can't be fixed after a reasonable number of repair attempts by the manufacturer or its authorized dealer, you'll likely be entitled to a replacement vehicle of equal value or a total refund.

On this page you'll find a general overview of California's lemon law and what to do if you find yourself with a defective car.

What is a Lemon Car in California?

In California, a vehicle is presumed to be a “lemon" by the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act if, within 18 months of the vehicle's delivery to the buyer (or 18,000 miles on the odometer):

  • 2 attempts or more have been made by the manufacturer to repair a warranty problem that could result in death or serious injury.
  • The manufacturer has attempted to repair the same warranty problem at least 4 times.
  • The car has been out of service for 30 days or more for repair to warranty problems.
  • Problems to the vehicle are not the result of abuse by the owner.

My truck has been in the shop for an estimated 3 months in total for all repairs. Mostly for drivetrain issues. I just got the truck back today. I gave it to Chevy on October 26th.

I love my truck and had lots of plans; lift kit, 35inch tires on 18inch Method rims, satin clear wrap, subwoofer, gah, I can keep going. This hurts… but it’s not reliable anymore…

Sorry for the tough sledding...
It does look as though the time and mileage limits are going to impact your 'case'...
Agreed… if I don’t get a buy back, which is a stretch, the attorneys said I could get some sort of compensation. The cool thing is nothing out of my pocket. I just sit back and wait, let them do their thing.

I’ll update when I know more.

Sorry to hear that about your truck! I have not had any issues at all (yettttttt) and I'm at 25K on my 2021 I bought in 20. I drive it like I stole it though so who knows. I know mine is broke in. Good luck as they are amazing off road trucks!

I have 57,000 miles on my truck and beat it all the time.. Lots of aftermarket parts on it too… I wish you the best of luck, I have heard and read many horror stories about people having problems with these trucks, I must have gotten a midweek build.

My a/c drips on the cross pipe when not moving. It’s a 21
Have you had your lifters repaired? I didn't have this issue prior to the repair. (I know I might sound petty even speaking about this, but cold stuff on hot stuff over time will erode and crack metal)
