2024 Custom Trail Boss
My name is Grant. I am currently in college. My current vehicle is a stock 2024 Custom Trail Boss with the 5.3. I hope to start doing some upgrades to exhaust, suspension, tuning, etc. I would like to start getting into some off-road races and such. Will probably be looking for assistance on here as I pursue my ambitions. Thanks, and happy (late) New Years!

Off road races? This is NOT the vehicle you are looking for if it's anything like any of the races I've seen.

Well, this is the one I have. Would have bought a Raptor instead, but I would rather pay half the price, put some work into it, and be a better driver. And I am not talking about DAKAR type stuff, not even BAJA 1000, even, just some friendly runs, similar to the Texas Raptor Runs. But I'll see where it takes me.

Raptors also have long travel suspension with 35-37" tires. That stuff costs big money to add to a Silverado. There's a thread on here of a guy that did a long travel suspension build and added the fiberglass fenders front and rear and it involved a lot of fabrication. Looking at that Texas Raptor Run, not even a ZR2 would be suited for that since it doesn't really have long travel suspension either.

Yeah, I've been looking into the LTS and definitely not going to do that. I'm mainly looking at monotubes and adding some dampening control. It's a toss-up between Bilstein and Ranchos. But I may bite the bullet and go for some Fox or King. I want its capability to match if not surpass the zr2 if you know what I mean.

Start here and add Lower Arms...Ford has really limited what the Raptors "COULD" have with the live valve tuning...even SDI makes those claims...

i plan to add the SDI- Eclic to my setup https://www.suspensiondirect.com/shop/sdi-ss-21540002

currently, most who have ridden in mine, praise who well it rides and handles the rough with a few quick clicks.

you cannot beat the engineering of the electronics in the Raptor or TRX, but if doing things on a budget...you can make a very capable truck with ease.

Thank You! I live on a five-mile dirt road, so the stock shocks jostle you around a bit, lol. My main thing is to have a nice budgeted capable truck.
Thanks -GW

Personally I wouldn’t modify my daily driver into a weekend race truck but I probably would have 30 yrs ago🤣
