Just bought 2020

Hey fellas, stumbled on this thread after purchasing a black 2020 Trail Boss. Absolutely loving the truck. Couple questions on some decisions I want to do with it.

1. Recommendations on cold air intake. I have the 5.3.

2. Back and forth on whether or not to put running boards on it. Which ones have you guys went with?

Lots of good info there along with pics. I went with go rhino dominator dss sliders. High and tight and not super intrusive. Not much of a step but enough to allow the wife and kids to climb in and out.

comes down to preference and looks for both I think. CAIs are just fancy and cool. However... I did get a throatier sound and a little quicker acceleration until I deleted the muffler (I get beefy sound ! ). I have a 19 custom 5.3 . I have the S&B, a TB spacer and Stillen air scoop.

The K&N intake I bought for my truck (6.2 engine) sounds amazing and is supposed to add around 16 horses to the tires. But that same intake is available for the 5.3 with a different sized coupler for the throttle body, and it adds even more power for the 5.3. I am sure it will sound amazing on that as well! Looks amazing under the hood too. Part number 77-3110KP

I also recently discovered that if your truck isn't tuned, then a new mass air flow sensor from Jet Performance will help you get even more gains out of the intake. But you will still have no issues without a new sensor, and still feel some good power gains. In case you don't want to spend the money.
