I installed the OEM Kicker sub in my truck today which I am not a novice on since I have done them in my last 2 trucks also. Anyway, I got everything installed and the subwoofer seems to just quit once I pass like 1/8 volume. So the sub only works at a super low volume. I checked all the usual things to make sure I wasn't missing anything and everything seemed solid. I called up their support people and the first thing the person told me was that 9 out of 10 times any issues are solved by removing the taps from the yellow and yellow/black wires and soldering the green and brown wires directly so that is what I did (Bose system BTW). Well it made no difference. The sub comes on when I start the truck and volume up and it cuts out almost like the amp is going into protect mode or something. The amp green light stays on after it cuts out too. Just wondering if anyone had anything similar happen and what the fix may have been.

I know that nobody replied to this, but I wanted to provide an update in case anyone else hit this issue. I sent the sub back to kicker for repair and it turns out that the woofer was blown. The system never worked for me at all so it must have been blown during testing after the manufacturing process.

Bringing this back to life.

I'm looking at getting the Kicker GM sub for our trucks. Does it sound good? Part Number: 19417164

it added exactly what the cab needed for a balanced FILL. it has decent power, sounds well with my NON-BOSE speakers and stock GM offerings.

it does NOT THUMP the next car over, but i think it filled the cab with the perfect balance of volume and feel.

Thanks for the info. I’m ready to install a Kicker. Waiting for warmer weather. Sure hope I avoid these issues.
How difficult was it to remove the rear seat back?

Another question that may be off topic: How did you route the red power cable to the battery? I looked closely at the fire wall and did not see a location where I could route the cable thru the wall. Thanks

look behind the battery, the large wiring harness entering the cab, has a nipple to the lower right side...trim the depth to fit your wiring.

You actually don't need to remove the seat back. All you have to remove is the 18mm bolt in the corner of the seat back to mount the subwoofer bracket. I attached the installation instructions here too.
