Anyone else notice that the little speed limit sign on the dash just shows - - and Apple CarPlay drops frequently since the last update? My settings look to still be correct for the speed thing, but it never registers anything anymore. Curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Do you have a data plan through on star ? If you don't, the speed limit sign doesn't work. If you do, I have been noticing it takes a little longer to register the speed limit after starting the truck. No issues with apple car play though.

My Android Auto drops whenever I hit a public WiFi zone. Does it say it dropped due to WiFi interference? That's what mine says. Very annoying.

Ah, maybe that’s why! Not that I use it, but it bugged me it wasn’t working. Guess I’ll just turn off the setting. On star doesn’t make sense for me.

I’ve never gotten any indication as to why. Just cuts in and out.

It didn't make sense for me either until I went on a little road trip and the kids in the back seat were complaining their iPad didn't work anymore. I added the connected vehicle plan for $25 a month that gives you unlimited data and the ability to use any apps you may have on your infotainment system

does the software update itself or do you have to do it manually when connected to your home's wifi?

Mine seems to do it in its own but that may be because I had the free onstar. Going forward I’m not so sure what is going to happen.

Ditto on the data plan.

Ditto on the data plan.
i turned off all the onstar services but kept the data plan. If you look around on their website, you do not have to have an onstar plan to keep data. And if you really push them, they advertise an unlimited data plan for $200 annually. they will try and get you to do the $20-$25 per month subscription but stand firm for the annual and save some money

This is interesting. Any idea what network the data plan is on?

on edit: nevermind, i looked it up and it appears to be AT&T. What's the advantage of this plan vs using a phone w/ unlimited data as a hotspot?

didnt need it for a hotspot, needed it for google maps / spotify / other apps on the refreshed screen. I do have a work laptop and a few other wifi devices I can use in there without having a phone near it. Plus I dont have to worry about battery drain with truck hotspot.

The advantages of buying a truck internet plan versus using your cell phone as a hotspot are minimal. The truck needs an internet connection for different features but it doesn't make a difference where the internet connection comes from. The only differences I have seen versus paying for the Onstar/Internet service is that I have to turn on my phone hotspot so the truck can connect before I can use these features (I usually only do this for GoogleMaps). Music apps on my phone (Pandora, Spoitfy, etc.) work fine through the Bluetooth connection as well as Android auto can be used without the paid Onstar/Internet service. If you use a lot of WiFi devices in or near your truck as was previously mentioned and the Onstar/internet Service is cheaper and/or has more data than your cell phone package then I could see the advantage. But for me it is not worth the price especially since I barely drive my truck when it is above 50* and not raining.
