Who feels the way that I do when it comes to lug nut color? Chrome or silver aluminum wheel, chrome or silver lug nuts. Black wheels, black lug nuts. Why do factory black wheels come equipped with chrome lug nuts but not vice versa? I’ve replaced both of my vehicles lug nuts that came with black wheels but chrome lug nuts for the total cost of $650. I think they do that purposely. Have you ever seen a new vehicle equipped with factory chrome or silver aluminum wheels come equipped with black lug nuts. Not thinking so much huh. What’s your opinion?

Yep! I replaced my chrome with black lug nuts, Rough country has them for around 35 bucks. I have all black decals, emblems and even blacked out the chrome on the bowtie so it just felt right to me.

I covered my chrome lug nuts and replaced the center hub with an all black bowtie.

If you're paying $650 for black lugnuts, you're doing it wrong! I actually love the contrast of chrome lugs and the chrome Bowtie outline on my stock wheels. I tried some red anodized lugs with my summer wheels this past year but they're not the same red as the painted tow hooks so they're not going back on. I'll stick with my chrome lugs which look great with the black/milled aftermarket wheels I run in the summer.

Discount Tire/America's Tire used to sell Lug nuts for $1 a pop. .50 cents if you can talk them down. Not sure what they are now. But Amazon has off brands for 50 bucks.

But i do agree, black wheels should have black lugs

I was thinking of doing the swap to black lugs too. I was wondering how the finish holds up to impact wrenches? At least if/when the chrome gets scratched it doesn't show as much. GM had a complete set with wheel 'locks' for $195. Those locks only are a slight deterrent and add about 20 seconds to wheel theft time, unless I go to a fully keyed solution like from Gorilla or such.

edit: I don't know where I saw the set mentioned above for $195, looks like a GM set of 24 is $350 ugh.

Neat idea, those are rubber end caps? How easy are they to pluck off when the need arises?
They came with a little tool to help remove them. I will warn you that I lost one pretty quickly after I put them on but I haven't lost another after I checked them all. I went ahead and ordered another set so I would have extras. ( $16) Yes they are some combo of rubber and plastic. They are very glossy so they match the rims very well.

The locks are a set of 4 and can be had on ebay for about $30-40. I have two of them. I think I bought one with a full set of lugs and another as an unopened package because it had the lock key info in case it ever got lost you could order a new one. The first set didn't have that and they only come with one key. The locks aren't black that I have seen, only chrome.

$300 for my Camaro and $350 for the trail boss. Do you really think that I would spend $650 for 20 to 24 lug nuts? Get real bro.

You spent 10x what they are worth for each vehicle as is.
