I’m sure this topic has come up before, but what the hell is the point of the outside rearview mirror lights?

Yeah, I thought they were kinda cool when i bought my truck but they don't get used much at all.
Sometimes I used them getting the mail at night IF I REMEMBER I HAVE THEM☺️
I don't understand why they don't come on with headlights and tail lights when you lock and unlock your doors at night, would be pretty sweet to have the side of my truck lit up when getting in at night.

That’s what I’m saying. If they came on automatically when you unlocked the truck they might be useful, but since they have to be turned on and off from inside the truck I don’t know what the point is.

If you’re parked on the side of the road and needed more light up front, or maybe fixing something and needed more light. It’s just an expanded field of light. Those along with headlights and cargo lights give an almost 360 field of light (minus the bedsides).

Unfortunate you have to manually move the mirror itself to “aim” them. Also, since GM calls them “high spot” lights, wish they would have put refractors with them and made them almost pillar light esque.

They'd be 100% more useful of you could turn them on while driving.

I know why they don't want you to, but where I live the roads are desolate and narrow; they'd help with peripheral light to shine on the wildlife standing at the side of the road.

I know I can add ditch lights, but just sayin'.

These don't tend to move much when you hit them. 😝

They do if you drive a semi! Been watching too many trucker dash cam videos.

I installed a wiring harness from BoostAutoParts.com that turns them on whenever the brights are on. I really like them for that. They do help with ditch lighting while driving in the country. I was debating changing the wiring to have them come on with the regular headlights but for now just the brights.
