Am I missing something here? Those things are $60 on Amazon.
Actually you can get them for $30 on ebay. I found out the hard way why though. I bought a set from someone in the US that was probably an Amazon return or something. I got them installed then realized the drivers side tip wasn't flat to the bumper so I took it back apart trying to adjust it. The mount bracket wasn't even welded to the tip, it was held together with paint. There were marks where it SHOULD have been welded, but wasn't. The factory tips are stainless steel. The aftermarket ones are plain steel. I just bought another set so I could put them on. Same crap welds but looks like they may have actually hit the metal so they might be welded together. The GM black times look like crap. They look like they are sprayed with flat black BBQ paint.

You are exactly right - I found that removing the Factory Tip (Stainless) and having them Powder Coated & Ceramic Coated was far better than any of the 'cheap' after market products.

I'd stay away from steel all together unless powder coated professionally. Otherwise in time they just turn that wonderful shade of brown.......

You are right 2Kwik - if not done right, Powder coating will turn brown over time. My thoughts were to Ceramic Coat the finish to prevent this. Only time will tell.

They don’t get very hot since very little exhaust actually exits from the tips so most powder coats will last a long time.
