Anyone do the muffler delete and have negative results? Wondering how the exhaust note sounds with it, and if any drone at highway speeds. Also wondering about back pressure issues without having a muffler.

i have it done on my 6.2, the sound is fine in 99.9% of cases.
some cruising speeds between 65-80 have a slight drone, which i do not like

it did also change drivability slightly too...i now select manual and run no higher than 9th gear unless over 80 on the interstate.
the sound more than anything, makes one think the truck is sluggish around town.

Did you cut off the flapper valve as well? Wondering if that makes a difference or not in the sound or has a negative impact at all. I have the 5.3 custom tb so it’s the 6 speed..so not sure if that would yield different results than your 10 speed

i left the flapper.

i may try some small bodied nufflers of some kind, right against the bumper in place of the resonators.

a 62 chevy i once had, i ran the muffs right there and it sounded great.

I saw the old video from Lonestar Hawaiian on YouTube when he did the muffler delete..he deleted the flapper as well, and said it had no drone. Wondering if it’s significantly louder if you remove the flapper as well, as compared to not removing it

2019 Custom 5.3, muffler delete w/flapper left on but locked open in case I decided later to put on a muffler. Cold start is a healthy growl that settles. Overall I like the sound and seems to get going when needed a bit quicker. I do have an S&B CAI (added a touch of throatiness before the delete)

Wow it’s great to hear so many of you fine Trail Boss owners have the muffler delete. I’m not looking to drop 1-2k on some fancy aftermarket exhaust system either..just looking for a bit of that V8 sound that GM stifles on us

Exactly. I went the cheap route, $100 straight pipe. I figured if it's too much noise I would bolt on a $130-150 muffler that had good reviews for noise.

i am about to grab a Borla and install it. i love the delete sound 99% of the time, but i would prefer a more reifined sound...and to rid of the dead spot at low throttle input

Full cat back or just the muffler? And if you don’t mind me asking..how much is that going to run you?

i am looking at a muffler only and going to run V bands to cut into the delete pipe. should be sub 200$

i may look at magna flow round mufflers and run those in the rear rather than the resonators, still deciding ang looking at space

I didn't want to spend that kind of money either so I searched around and found the rough country exhaust system on sale for only $500. Installed it last week and have no complaints it sounds great. I do a lot of highway cruising at 70mph and there's zero drone.
