Dealer technician wants me to do a flush on my ‘24 1500 with 10k miles.

The reason I took it in today was a pulsing groan from 47-55mph. They test drove it and said it slipped at 37mph. I never noticed that. Then they said it could be torque converter clutch slip and could be a program issue.

I’m very hesitant to have a flush done only because of what I have read.

Folks, I’m hoping for any input here. I appreciate any help.

I might have the wrong approach, but if it's an issue with my truck and it's still under warranty I'm generally going to have them pursue what they diagnose and say is wrong. If nothing else it gives me the ability to say that they did what they wanted and either it was fixed or we still have an issue. That way I can say we did everything they said and if its an issue it falls on the dealer who did the work and the diagnosing. Might lead to more of a drawn out process but when it's a warranty claim I want them to have all the responsibility associated with it.

That’s where I’m at, honestly. And, you’re right, it will be drawn out. What worries me is a hunt I have this fall 3 states away the end of October. There’s nothing in Wyoming. I have a lot of money tied up in that hunt and don’t need to be someone’s guinea pig.
Appreciate the reply and Friday it will get flushed.

No problem and yeah I'd definitely be wanting to have it sorted before then. Elk hunt?

Yeah I would let them do what they want but I'd keep pressure on and make sure they get it fully resolved by then. Don't let up, hunts can't be missed! lol

Mule deer this year. Elk in 2.

Nice! Haven't hunted mule deer yet and been a long time since I went after an elk. Good luck and let us know how it goes! At least I would be interested to know how you fared.

Lol.
Update:
Dealer just called and canceled the flush. Service writer said his tech and boss were discussing my transmission. They decided the flush probably won’t help. I asked if they could change the shift program. Didn’t sound like they were interested in that.
Was told to drive it and keep checking back if or when it worsened.
Being warranty they probably didn’t want the hassle. Lol.
Run it, I guess.

Keep complaining...

or go talk to a salesperson, show some interest in trading...then ask for eh GM and discuss your trade options explaining your failing trans.
tell him, his service dept does want to help you and want to move on...

i did this with the 6.2 recall, after months of dealing with service... they jumped at eh chance of me getting serviced for a possible trade

I’ll keep this in mind. It’s just begun so I have to at least see where it goes.
Thanks!

buckshot85, I agree with Stormin08...

I had a 2022 Custom TB 1500 which turned out to be a lemon. Long story, short, I filed a Lemon Law case on it because of tranny problems, specifically the valve body. Anyway, had it in the shop numerous times within the first 15,000 miles and the last time it was in the shop for approximately 63 days. I won the Lemon Law case. The main thing I did was complain, as Stormin08 stated, and made record of the work orders and submitted this and other info to the department who was working with me on the case. So, with all that said, I did not want to chance anything for the remainder of the warranty or thereafter, so, I decided to go the route I mentioned and ended up purchasing a 2025 LT TB 1500 and at this point [knock on wood] I have no issues.

So, I recommend pushing it and go forth with the dealership agreeing with a trade or you will resort to other ways to handle the situation.

Thanks, Guys. Appreciate the responses. Will try to keep this updated for the next guy.

You and I have the same truck. I pray and hope that some of the mods I have put in place will help with preventing the transmission from imploding. I have been toying with getting a PPE Transmission pan replacement, but fear it void my warranty. I am at 23K miles on my truck and so far it has been behaving.

I can’t see how a pan would get you trouble. It’s on my radar as well as the Next Gen kit.

According to the Magnusson-Moss warranty act, it prohibits a manufacturer from denying warranty coverage due to the use of a Non-OEM part unless they can demonstrate that the failure or operation of that part caused the issue that warranty is being claimed for.

You’re under warranty, if me would have them fix everything. If that does not fix it, you have time for a new transmission. They did my 2021 at 20k, slipping. There was water in the trans fluid. They said it was a known issue.
