Hello,

Just bought the new mid year Trail boss and on day 2 the truck would not start and was throwing all kinds of emissions codes. I think it thought it was out of DEF, but NEVER gave any warning. We pulled the battery cable and that seemed to reset it and had no other issues. Now a couple weeks later the emissions light came on again and I am suppose to take it in for them to read the codes (it is still running). Has anyone else seen this and is the truck so sensitive that you cant sit in it with it running when someone runs in the store? This seems crazy to me. The other Duramax Diesel we had did not have any of these issues.

Thank you,
Nikki

I'd bet this has more to do with the new electrical architecture that the refresh trucks have than anything else. Any time they introduce new electronics, I like to wait a year before buying because there are almost always bugs to work through.

The refresh trucks have GM's newest Global B Electrical Architecture which first appeared on the Cadillac CT4/CT5 and C8 Corvette.

same thing happened to me when I fogot to plug the MAF sensor in... Took it to the dealership to fix it. All they did was plug int he sensor and clear the codes.

You are probably right! Of course, they tell you that it has been fully tested on Cadillac first. I hate being a guinea pig, but I do love the look. Hopefully, they figure this out and I don't get stranded somewhere. I just am also concerned it is not cleaning like it should and that is causing the codes. I was reading that it cleans when you are driving and when you sit long periods of time that he does not have the ability to clean, but that it is suppose to start cleaning again when you drive it and i guess you need to drive for a least 30mins for it to complete a cleaning cycle. I am not sure why the first time it did not even give us a warning? Now I'm nervous for it to sit too long. :(

What is the MAF sensor? Is this something I would need to plug in or is it normally plugged in?

Mass Air Flow Sensor - Its on the snorkel. Its normally plugged in.
Clipped on with little red tab in between the coolant reservoir and yellow dipstick handle in this picture

When mine was unplugged I got a DEF System error, and the fan was running non stop, and i got a message about the engine going to limited or reduced max speed after so many miles

Oh ok........ Thank you so much. It would have been nice if we had gotten a warning, but it just would not start. I will keep this in mind when i take it in.

I recently got a P0449 code, Emissions valve malfunction. And this was a week after I installed a oil catch can. Idk if that had anything to do with it?

Did you get it to the Dealer to get checked out?
Curious as to whats going on....
I'm at 9000 miles and zero issues
Just getting ready to do my second Oil Change and a new Fuel filter.

Actually, I take it in tonight to leave it so they can check it out. I took it in that day and the stupid code went off on the way there, but they were able to see it and said it had to do with the DEF system. I had to bring it back so they could put me in a car while they have it. We have had the light come on several other times, but it did not shut the truck off and went away after driving it. Anytime, we sit somewhere for a minute the light comes on and I am thinking it should not be that sensitive. so we will see.

Do you have the Duramax? Just making sure because I don't think my 6.2 has a fuel filter, but I could be wrong lol.

Yes, I have the duramax 3.0 diesel engine which has lots of sensor stuff with the DEF system.

Okay that makes sense, thank you. I wonder why the gassers don't have fuel filters anymore but the diesels still do? A conversation for another time and place, maybe lol.
