We picked up the wife's 2022 Trail Boss LT 2.7 the other night I get the older 2017 red Silverado LTZ next to it now, can't wait to customize it out. Our hobbies are musky fishing in Canada and riding our Harley Fat Boy, looking forward to towing our oat to Canada in this rig !
Thanks
Darren & Carol Nixon

2.7, eh? How's it drive? I've always been a bit curious about that engine. I'm skeptical about new engines, and skeptical about this specific engine. I want it to succeed, but have my concerns. Not many people on here have that engine, so I'm a bit curious.

Welcome to the forum. My name is Transient, and I'm both the village idiot and village drunkard. Just laugh when I say something stupid and all will be okay.

Edit: ... and please forgive me if I repeat myself. I was probably drunk the first time we talked about the subject. I might even be drunk now.

Haven’t heard anything negative about the turbo 4 cylinder. Honestly for what I do with my truck, I don’t need a V8. But I want it😎

Well the 2.7 is quicker of the line and up to about 65MPH against our 5.3 that was the first test we did, second test was hooking up our boat 5,500 pounds and could not tell it was behind the truck at all. I really had my doubts with that 2.7 engine but we looked hard in our area 100 mile radius for a used one with very low mileage with the 5.3 but they were all the 2.7 so far pretty happy about it.
Thanks
Darren

I've heard of an oil line failure issue, and several engines being built by GM with cracked blocks to which they're replacing under warranty. My son is likely getting a Colorado when he turns 16, so I want to see what's going on with the engine and transmission for longterm durability.

I'm assuming your 5.3 has the 8 speed, which makes it a very fair comparison. I don't think the results would've been the same with a 10 speed mounted to the 5.3. How's the fuel economy comparing? Is it drinking regular octane, or does it require premium because it's a higher output engine?
