Ordered a Trail Boss on November 2021. Dealer tells me there are constraints etc. Chevrolet tells me, check with dealer, order is Code 1100. Question is this the usual and customary? Suggestions!

That is BS. Sounds like the dealer dropped the ball. I'd be calling GM to complain about them. It would at least make me feel better.

I'd definitely find another dealer.

There have been constraints all model year on Trail Boss. If your dealer is small and doesn't get a lot of Trail Boss allocations, I could see the issue. What engine did you order? I haven't been able to order a 6.2L Trail Boss at all for 2022.

If you don't have it by now, you'll need to order a 2023. 2022 ordering has been completed and now we are ordering 2023 models.

I would look for a dealer with a Trail Boss allocation that fits yours options/is close to them.

I gave up on my first Trailboss that I put a deposit down on and found one 6 hours away that had just been delivered. Got my deposit back so all is good. The original was a 2022 ltd and I don’t think it ever did come in even though it had been put in pending shipment status months ago. The truck I got is better (refresh) and was only a couple thousand more.

I just went through same, trying to find an AT4 or Trail Boss for months and was looking all over Texas. I was pretty picky on color and wanted the 3.0 diesel . To order mid July required a 2023 which pushed cost up a couple $1K on TB and over $3K on AT4. Ordering w/ the 3.0 diesel wait was estimated 6 months, and told to avoid factory installed options like spray on bed liner and step guards which adds to wait. They built my truck but the convenience package linked to leather was constrained so unable to order a 2023 with leather. Decided for price wasn't willing to give up any options, big dealership so they searched their allocation and found a 2023 in Dark Ash, with all my must haves plus an unwanted sunroof. It was in production so now I am waiting for it to arrive, 2 weeks into my 4-6 week estimated wait. Will add pictures when it arrives.

I agree with checking other dealers, the bigger dealers seem to get better allocation. My dealer in Sugar Land, TX is getting at least 5+ Trail Bosses a month, and lately seems like new ones arrive weekly, and they go in days if not hours. They have multiple 5.3s LTs and occasionally a 6.2 LT, but the 3.0 diesel are less common and seem to sale as soon as they arrive. They had one a few weeks back and it sold while I was driving to dealership after confirming it was available. Good Luck.

Just 2 years ago who would have thought you’d have to pay MSRP (or more) and wait 6-9 months to get a truck😬

Yeah. Gotta go to the bigger dealerships. I put my order in January, built in May, sat waiting for a chip and boarded the train two weeks ago. Looks like this is the week. I went through the largest dealer in Colorado. My dealer even called about constraints eg. “ hey, the running board is on constraint should we do without?” Still a painful process, but the horror stories seem to come from the small dealerships w/o allocations… just stringing folks along. You’re also more likely to snag one that had an order, but turns it down.
