Hello again, gang. I traded my original 2020 Silverado Trail Boss in for a 2019 Zr2 Bison Colorado, and did a few trade-ups since then....finally landing on a 2024 Colorado Zr2 with the 2.7L TurboMax. Heckuva truck, and more capable than anything I could find to put it through here in NC. Anyway, being 6'4" I eventually missed the interior space of the full-size Silverado and found myself back in a 2025 5.3L Trail Boss this month.
So far, my immediate mods have included:
1. Softopper
2. Zr2 wheels/tires (275/70/r18)
3. Zr2 rock sliders
4. Range DFM disabler
5. J&L Oil Catch Can
6. Onboard Air (Pinnacle under-hood mount/ARB compressor)
7. Bulletpoint Rubigrid
Following my general theme of protection & prevention, I crawled under the truck and was surprised to find a plastic front skid plate, an aluminum one covering the front differential, and no skid for both the transmission and fuel tank! Seeing the quality of the compressor mount Pinnacle Offroad sold me, I reached out to them for a front skid plate replacement also. They also suggested a front support bracket to beef up the front end, as the Silverado has a built-in "crumple-zone" under the factory aluminum diff skid, exactly like the Colorados do. A week later the UPS driver herniated a disc dropping the heavy, powder-coated pieces on my doorstep. The install was straight-forward, albeit a bit tricky doing solo. I now have some peace of mind knowing the radiator and lower engine bits are protected behind a sizeable steel plate. I plan on adding transmission/fuel tank skids later once I replenish some funds. (And ice my back)
