Ok looking to purchase a trail boss or ZR2. Question is will I disappointed in the 5.3 coming from the 5.7 in my ram.

I had a 2019 RAM Rebel with the 5.7 and eTorque. I'm going to answer this question two ways, performance and reliability.

Performance wise my Ram was way more powerful then my TB. The TB just lags off the line in comparison. On the flip side my MPG is about 10-15% better in the TB.

RAM actually paid for my TB. After 10k miles it needed a new engine, a month later a new transmission. Another 10k miles it needed another new engine. At that point I sued RAM under the lemon law and they settled for about 3x what I paid for my RAM. So from a reliability stand point they're not even in the same league. Needless to say, no engine problems with the TB.

Sorry to hear about all the problems with ur ram. I to have a 2019 with 88k miles on it . No problems except my radio. This is the 3rd Ram I had a 2012 n 2017 before this one Thanks for the info I just drove the GMC with the 5.3 in sport mode it seemed like it had decent power Thx.

The 5.3 doesn't have eTorque so it will feel less powerful off the line, but otherwise the power-to-weight ratios of the 5.3 TB and 5.7 Rebel (cab/bed for cab/bed of course) are nearly identical so there should be very little difference once moving. Another wild card is the fact that GM's throttle curves are extremely exponential in nature while Stellantis doesn't do that nearly as much with their vehicles. So I would bet that the Ram would FEEL more powerful, but if you run them in the quarter it would be a near tie.

Given those facts along with the fact that Stellantis is an absolutely horrible company to work with (i'm a current JL owner and former Challenger Hellcat owner), I recommend you go with the TB. You can fix the throttle curve with an aftermarket solution easily if you want it to feel more powerful.

I’ve had 21 Ram Rebel as a work vehicle now own 24 TB 5.3 as my personal .

Hands down the driving experience of Ram I felt was more pleasurable. The Billstein shocks and the power I feel were better. The tech inside was better as well. I did have minor issue after minor issue all covered , but truck had enough to make it a minor inconvenience.

With that said I’ve had the 5.3 in my yukonxl’s /Suburbans for 2 decades. More than handful have spun 200k . As a daily driver I’d say 5.3 is more than adequate. It’s nothing that will blow you away power response wise , but on the flip side it’s satisfactory. The 10spd tranny has finally put it on par with other MFG’s. The issue isn’t the engine. It’s all the tech they’re trying to cram on them with fuel management. The GM trucks just haven’t figured out how to disguise it and you notice it. Luckily some aftermarket devices are produced to aid in that.
I wemt TB because I really like the looks , the interior is enough of an upgrade finally. I’m a simpleton tho. The 25 red rebel interior is enough to not even get me serious about asking one for
A drive.

That was a lot of words to basically be summed up like this. I prefer the styling , looks along with options per dolllar on my TB, I also am partial to the 5.3 longevity. but if your sole comparison and criteria for Rebel vs TB is straight performance I don’t think it’s enough to sway . Edge slightly to the GM reliability against the Hemi. I also feel that new Hurricane Twin will however be a winner. It’s been in production for bit.

Jesus Christ, 2 engines and a transmission. What are the odds? I heard that Stellantis was having quality issues but that’s pretty insane.

The big problem with Stellantis isn't as much the issues - lets be honest, everyone is having major engine issues now with all the crap they've saddled their engines with - no the problem with Stellantis is that they treat their American brands like money fountains. No interest in investing in the brand, no interest in the ownership experience. The focus is creating a flashy product that gets your money and then whatever happens after that is your problem. They aren't interested once they have your money. They will do anything they can to get out of honoring their warranties, and there are endless examples of chronic, easy-to-remedy issues with their vehicles that have existed since the model was introduced. My JL for instance has a laundry list of chronic design issues, most of which would be easily fixable, that have existed since 2018. They even refreshed the JL platform for 2024...new interior, updated styling, and a few features that no Wrangler has ever had...but they didn't fix a single one of the issues that are at the top of every JL owner's "please fix this" list. Nothing. They just don't care.

As a result, sales of Jeep and Dodge brands are now in the toilet and Stellantis brass are throwing up their hands like "I have no idea what's going on here".

This is why, when I went shopping for a truck back in 2023 (and ended up with my TB), the Ram was eliminated from my list at the start. Nothing to do with what the truck offers, everything to do with not wanting to have a another Stellantis product in my garage.

You'll definitely notice the difference between the 5.7 and the 5.3. I went from a hemi to the 5.3 and not long after traded in for 6.2. 5.3 isn't gutless but i felt the difference for sure

I heard the Hemi is no longer available. V6 - twin turbo. Just another Ford I guess.
