I saw the Blue Garage YouTube video on it. Anyone use this yet? Not looking to open up a can of worms on DFM itself, but I admittedly don’t understand much about the long term implications of having it or disabling it. I just know I want to keep this truck long after warranty so thinking of pulling the trigger on this.

Well, just saw this video on it with some dissatisfaction over the functionality

Range does mention that on their website:

The other option is Carbyte:

The carbyte plugs into the odb port so that’s easy, and it can read trouble codes. But you need to hit 40+ mph for it to turn off dfm/autostop. It doesn’t do the shutdown when coasting that range does so you don’t get that little blurb as you come to a stop and the engine starts back up. However, it you coast down a large hill the engine braking with the range is way better, Carbyte feels like it’s still pushing and you’ll be riding the brakes.

Neither is perfect, that’s the nature of work arounds though, you’ll just have to decide which one drawbacks you would rather deal with.

I have the Carbyte, it’s noticeable better ride around town in areas where your speeds are 55-35mph. You do t get the shutter or noise when the truck goes into the shutdown mode for fuel management. It eliminates auto off as well. I had a range OBD module on my 17 Yukon XL. Again. Noticeably smoother around town.

I have around 7k miles with my Carbyte and it’s functioned as advertised. I preferred the quick mount of the OBD port under the dash to the new Range computer mount . I disable my Carbyte for long highway trips through the app , so the auto stop feature remains . I do this because 275miles at 75-80mph running on the eway with the fuel managemt gets me 1.5 is mpg better and I don’t notice the shutter/ hesitation on the eway at those speeds. I bought my truck July. It has 22k on it. So for me 1.5mpg will add up.

I’m not sure I’d base my review on that video. The disclaimer posted above was not origin ally in the Range add for their product . So most people didn’t understand it. The added the disclaimer so people now understand why it works.

So any new updates on Carbyte? I am thinking of getting it for my 2023 TB LT w/5.3L

I am using Range and Carbyte together without issue, both do what they are supposed to do and don't interfere with eachother. Once I hit 40mph i am 100% V8 for the rest of my drive. As mentioned above, i also sometimes unplug the Carbyte since it right at my knee on longer trips to get 1-2mpg better.

What someone really needs to make, is to fully disable DFM below 40mph and have it fully engage as normal after 40mph. You don't notice it at highway speed, the jerky crappy driving conditions happen in traffic and city driving at slower speeds as cylinders are popping on and off along with varying throttle input and lots of gear changes. Absolute nightmare of confusion from all of these components trying to work together at slower speeds.

i always here this, but my 23 6.2...has never acted funny at all. maybe i need to review my sticker to see it has the DFM delete chip.

now, the actual shift schedule is not ideal, but GM fowled that with the 6 speeds and up. Tow haul helps, but it could stand a 200 rpm bump for sure.

My Carbyte works from 0 MPH on my 2024 TB. No issues and works GREAT!

I got my Carbyte today. Updated the firmware, turned off the truck and then pulled it out of the port and back in. Took it for a ride. Stop/start seems to be working. The app said I was running full v8. Didn’t really feel much juice out of it when I punched it up to 70mph on highway near my house. Thought I would feel something noticeably. Wondering if the truck needs time to adjust with the computer.
It was a short drive. I only have a 13k miles on my truck even though it is a ‘23

If Edge gets the CTS3 Evolution to work on the refresh trucks that's the way to go. They have other engine and trans tuning in them as well. I'm really happy with mine. And no more AFM.

Yeah I just checked that out online. It looks good but a bit more than what I am gunning for. At least now that start/stop seems to be gone and it’s in v8 mode, so I am good for now. Would be nice if they sent a software update to give us more control over our trucks
