Hey guys. Owning chevies for decades now, I can say that us guys gotta make sure to get the rocker guards PPF before your paint screws up.

There are kits and dealerships CAN DO IT, but they often try to say they cant, because they know youll have to get truck painted in 4 years or less.

All the dealerships in my area REFUSED to PPF my truck in 2020 until now, and there were never aftermarket kits cut/available until recently. Here is a pattern now available:

This is the best money you can spend! Trust me. Every chevy I have ever owned has sand blasted the rocker panels/guards.

Ill update this thread with pics of dealership repainting mine and putting PPF on it after I snapped and redused to take no for an answer. Got paint chips fixed, cut polish, and ceramic coat, plus demanded the PPF put on before I rust out.

Cost me over 2k to fix my paint just now. 500 bucks at time of purchase plus a couple hours labour would have saved me all this headache.

Truck is in shop now, but Ill show some shiny pics when she is done.

Save yourself the headache guys. Dont take no for an answer. If your paint is still good, do this asap before it isnt. They can do this work, even though they will try and refuse to with excuses like: they cannot put PPF on rocker guards, cannot put it on textured surface on quarter panel, cannot put it on bottom of doors. But its all bs. I watched them install it on 4 new '24 trucks when I went to get my paint chips fixed. In the exact spot they refused...

tell us how you REALLY feel about it

but i do agree, the coatings now days are much thinner and junk compared to years past

we drive down a rocky road and i cringe every time i hear the rocks slamming the side of the truck. Do you have a picture of the product installed

2019 I just got rid of was doing it ... I will never own a Chevy again . It was a beautiful truck and got lots of compliments but wasn't worth the headache

Got my truck back today. Ok so the dealership did me a solid and cleaned her up really nice, but it cost some cheddar. Entire rocker panel was repainted, blended, ppf'd, and ceramic coated. Looks 1000x better.

Just wish they did this on day one for me.

You can just barely see line where the ppf stops. Cant tell if they used black ppf or clear but it sure does look better anyhow so Im happy and the bottom entire area will last a lot longer now.

All in just under $1800 Canadian to cut polish, fix chips, respray rockers, apply ppf, and ceramic coat the entire truck. Not exactly cheap but I feel its worth it.

She is just a bit dusty from air pollution/chemtrails. But you can see paint looks newish now.

All in all my truck looks 3 years newer.

Pretty happy with result.

so, if you want to do the math...a good CERAMIC job here will run about 1500$ for a 3-5yr coating.

it turned out good, just not sure i would have done the PPF so soon after paint, hopefully that doesn't cause any issues.

The dealership shop did it all over a period of a week. The let paint cure over the weekend.

Ya I think I got a decent deal in the end.

The ceramic coat plus a few hours of cut polish was on fall sale at the dealership for $799. They had a sale on. I guess they were making money on volume as a promo.

After all of this though, Im tempted to think the real take away is to wrap the entire vehicle before it even leaves the lot.

GM just needs to quit getting cheap and apply more paint.

That’s why I put box liner on the side of my truck

BODYLINER is always an option....newer to the market, but it is BEDLINER that is reformulated to lay flat and smooth. very interesting stuff. i have been talking with a local shop about using it on bumpers, rockers and high chip areas.

No way, Id love to see how that looks finished.

I thought about linex, but talked to local shops about it and nobody liked how it turned out, except for some rare jobs where guys coated entire jeeps in it.
