Anyone with GM on here that can explain why a blown 6.2L under warranty has NO replacement engines available when you build them everyday? Bottom end went and needs new engine. Dealer inquires weekly with no information from GM on ETA. Less than par on GM’s part. Over a month with no information as to an ETA on the fix is ridiculous.

Is GM providing you with a truck loaner while you wait? When I had issues with the new baby duramax Colorado that was under warranty they provided me a suburban as a loaner for a month. I didn't complain even though the Colorado was under a month old.

yes. It’s a “service what you sell issue” I guess. This is a sold, in operation unit and the new ones on the line are in ordered status so essentially not sold. I’m not real impressed with how GM is handling this. March 4th it went down and my dealer nor I know anymore today than we did then other than it blew up. That is bad business

if YOU have to pay ( if it were mine)...the L8P would be going in, not an L87.

I had a valve body failure on mine and had to wait 68 days. The part miraculously shipped a day after they received paperwork from me starting a Lemon Law case with them. I do agree GM really need to get their priorities straightened out and "really" care about the consumer!

The 6.2 blocks have had known issues recently, with vehicles coming right of the transportation trucks needing new engines. The 6.2 blocks are very hard to come by right now, much like lifter and valve springs a few years ago.

it is not a block issue, it is a bearing issue...either out of round AFTER Torque (bearings are not round prior to)....or to tight after torque, and no one is spinning the cranks as they install.

Wow, makes me shudder that mine consumes some oil. It's about a quart every 5k miles maybe a hair less. 😩
Every 6.2 engine consumes oil. About a quart every 2-3,000 miles. My ‘21 used oil every 3,000 miles. My new one has only 1,500 miles. No consumption yet.

This is nuts... it shouldn't be consuming any oil until about 200k.. I don't think GM would sell an engine that consumes a quart of oil every 2k miles in the vehicle that keeps the lights turned on. I just bought one about six weeks ago, changed my oil and filter at 500 miles has a little over a thousand now. Guess I will keep an eye on it. Ticked me off a bit that I drained 5 quarts out of it and should have been 8.

It’s a high performance engine. All engines of that nature consume oil. I had a 911 turbo that ate a quart every 1,000 miles. Still loved the car.

I had the same problem with my coolant control valve on my 3.0 engine. I waited 2 months for the new part to come in.

This is BS!!! A production 6.2 is far from “high performance”. I’ve had several Yukons with 6.2’s over the years and none of them used oil. We have 5.3’s, 6.6L and the 4 cylinder turbo on our farm, they use one or two quarts per 5k miles. It’s not a 6.2 problem, it’s a GM problem

440 HP is not high performance? That’s BS. What you had in your older 6.2s was 250+ hp. No where near high performance. All HP engines use oil. If you don’t like it, get a 5.3 or a 4-cyl. Drive your Ford 9-N till it runs dry.
