Just had an error message start popping up every time I put the truck into park after turning the truck off. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I stopped by my dealer and they have an appointment for me on the 30th. The service manager told me that this is more common on the models that have console shift than ones like mine that have the column shifter.

What's the error message indicate?

It just tells me to shift to park. It's dumb. Apparently it's a sensor issue with the stalk.

Oh yes… I had that message for the better part of a year. It would come and go at times but when I finally got it fixed by the dealer, they said they had to replace the entire shifting column mechanism to fix it, not just a module. Also at the same time I had a bad hood latch for about 5 months which disabled the use of the remote start. It would give me the hood open message. All in all to fix the park to shift and the hood latch issue costed me around $900.00. My Trailboss is a 2019. I had another issue that went away after they replaced the column shifter mechanism, for about 4 years I would have an issue when going from park to drive the transmission would lurch, that went away fortunately. Very strange.

Mine is just about to come off lease. That said, if they try to charge me for it, they can keep it. It wouldn't hurt my feelsies one bit if I had to jump into a zr2. Don't get me wrong, I love the trailboss, but I'm not interested in paying for a repair on a 2022 with 14k on the clock. They can eat this one.

My Colorado console shift will do the same thing, but I'm pretty sure it's my fault. It only happens when I kill the engine without shifting to Park first (which my wife warns me is abusing the timing belt). It seems to be letting me know that I have only stopped the engine, but the vehicle intends to remain on until I have placed it in Park. Not sure where this differs from your experience, but it had not occurred to me it was a bug.

Nah, it's definitely not that in my case. The only thing that keeps it from doing it is if I park the truck, put it in park, shift to another gear, and then put it back into park before shutting the truck off. It's pretty stupid.

I'll update this after my appt. Now I'm just limping the old girl along until then.

Update: Got the bad girl back today. They replaced the shift control module w/ microswitch. The microswitch was bad and not making contact. They said it is more common with the console shift style trucks, but apparently us column shift guys aren't exempt.

All covered under warranty, and good to go.

What were the messages you were getting and were you able to start the truck?
I recently left town for 2 days and came back these messages.

Did not have these messages before hand and truck rode just fine no problems.

I didn't get all of the glamour shots that you posted, but it did tell me to shift the truck into park even though it already was in park. The truck was running while it did this, so I can't speak to whether the condition prevented the truck from starting.
