Which Bilsteins work best on the Trail Boss? Looking to upgrade from stock. Front end is leveled with a Readylift with UCA. What are some suggestions?

I've heard somewhere that Bilsteins on the front and Fox's on the back work best due to the Bilsteins being a bit stiff for the rear.

I’ve been running the ready lift 2.0 with Bilstien 5100 all around … way better than stock ranchos .. also on 35/12.50/18’s…. Didn’t find a need to run coilovers with reservoirs , will not over heat my shocks to necessitate them… very happy with set up

Thanks! I have some 5100’s on the way. Did you still use the spacer in the readylift or did you have the Bilsteins set for that?

They were set at zero lift the ready lift gave me all the lift and the rear blocks for the back.
How do you like the ride? I have the RL 1.75 leveling kit (minus the bottom spacer) and the 5100 set at .55" and it rides pretty harsh. I'm thinking of setting the shocks back down to zero and putting the bottom spacer back in (as it was intended). Didn't think it would make such a difference, but it rides like crap.

I installed 5100s on the rear. It rides rougher than the Ranchos and Im glad I didn’t put them on the front too😬.

i have run many sets of bilsteins on numerous trucks, and have ridden in far more. most do not understand, these shocks are designed for offroad use (mostly of them)...to many they will feel stiffer in ON road conditions due to the valving. the low speed side is somewhat sacrificed to have a better high speed control.

if you are street driving and WANT SOFT...you can either do a standard silverado strut and spacer combo, or go with an adjustable shock. the rancho 9000 may be a better option...or go bigger !!!

i can say this, i am about 50 miles into a set of Fox 2.5 with DSC adjusters...first set of this brand period, and it is night and day already. i did about 10 miles around town with both settings on 1...super plush ride.

The 5100’s controls that bouncy wobbly old towncar ride, that may be interpreted as harsh … you get a more planted ride but the ride is great maybe since mine are set at zero which allows for full compression.. the ready lift 2.0 sst gives me my lift, zero lift from the shocks …the 5100’s are a great median between a coil over reservoir style set up and a factory set up… most of use are not racing down desert flats or rock crawling … good luck hope you can find a remedy for that harsh ride … maybe set it up as per ready lifts recommendations…

one thing to consider,, the needed droop travel is about 3" for street driving. the TB is taking about 2 of that away. this is why when leveling a TB above stock...an aftermarket control arm is necessary. it arcs more in a reaching fashion to allow the needed drop, and corrects the BJ angle at by clocking the BJ cup.
