I’ve mostly lived in the fringe areas of major broadcasters. I remember the radio antennas in the 70’s being thin little wires built into the windshield. Never was too impressed with those. I drilled and added a standard “aerial” as the older folks used to called them .

I pulled mine off when I was parking in the garage because it whacked on the door every time. Put it back on to keep the threads clean after I got evicted from the garage LOL. Can say I have never once listed to broadcast radio so don't know if it had reception or not.

One of the things I do early on is check out the AM reception. There's still a lot of stuff on AM stations that I enjoy.

The best thing about AM/FM format is the fact that I don't receive a bill for having access to it.

I want a shorty antenna for a couple of reasons. They're far less likely to hit every low hanging limbs, etc, and they look better. I admit I buy things simply because I like the look of it. The antenna is an item that I'm not willing to trade function for form.

i have always, and now remember i need to....cut the stocker down to cab height, the ball just pops off. file the tip after cutting to fit the ball to reinstall.

On my 4th one. Keeps disapearing. I think my neighbors behind me are starting a shorty antenna club cuz everyime i turn around someone has a new one. Atleast make me the president since i seem to be funding the sh*t show. ( No more antennas)
